The 2014 serve-us year was the big push for the Kingdom's 100th year birthday. Do not be surprised to see increases all over the place. More telling will be the figures in years to come.

    Yeah, "100 years" has a nice ring to it. . . "102. . . 107. . . 113 years" -- not so much.

As has been noted countless times on this board, the "peak number" of publishers is utterly meaningless, as it contains hundreds of thousands of reports that were not turned in for previous months.

It seems quite significant that the "average number" of publishers was not mentioned as a highlight. The "average number", while not perfect, is a better representation of year over year growth.

It's kind of like the old Soviet news releases - you can tell what's really happening by what is not mentioned.

I wonder if the "average number" of publishers was stagnant or perhaps even declined from the previous year.

Memorial attendance was up 3.7% over the 2013 count, but only 3% over the 2011 count. It's also been noted on this board that Memorial attendance swings greatly depending on the day of the week it falls on. In 2014 it was on a Sunday so attendance was higher than it would have been if on a weekday.

Big deal. Why do you not hear of the millions of innocent people dragged from homes and into prison camps to be enslaved or slaughtered every time communism takes a country? And it's always the smartest and most industrious that are taken--you never hear of the holocaust in Russia where tens of millions were taken to slave camps and slaughtered or worked to death. Yet, 8 jokehovians are released from prison and they ballyhoo it?

Hours spent in ministry this year = 2 billion
    Baptised = 275,000
Therefore it is taking 7,000 hours (or 10 months of witnessing hours) to make each disciple.

If these numbers were used to illustrate a monetary investment, instead of WT "growth", it would look like this:

    Annual investment: $2 billion

    Annual Return: $275,000

(note: due to mismanagement, most of the prior year's $275,000 was lost, so essentially it's net gain of zero)

    --

    Annual investment: $7,000

    Annual Return: $1

Summary: Failure! Invest somewhere else for a better return.

Only in WT Land is this considered a success. But, when it costs WT nothing to conduct business and all their labor is free, what do they care??

Also, number of baptisms remains stagnant.

Rounded totals of baptisms over the past 5 years:

    2010: 294,000

    2011: 263,000

    2012: 268,000

    2013: 277,000

    2014: 276,000

The "lifesaving ministry" continues to be less and less efficient. The "hours preached" continues upward, nearly 2 billion per year now, but the ultimate "final result", new baptisms, is stuck.

Each year, more JWs die or get DF'ed, but the count of their "replacements", newly baptized JWs, remains stagnant. This points to a time in the not-distant future when the curve of "publisher count" actually starts descending.

I think these numbers are a lie, the fact that it still takes 7000 hours to gain one new convert tells me so. This has been the amount of hours on average for years now and with the internet we know people are able to obtain info about the cult, so realistically this number should be going up. Its probably a fact now that all numbers mentioned are manipulated to make it as though they continue to grow, but the numbers from most developed countries including big gainers of the past, countries like Japan and Brazil are no longer there. It also was mentioned that they lost 1.7 million publishers since 2000, things just don't add up and with comments on others threads talking about KH closers and people leaving on average in one area of the US of 6 per circuit and one days assemblies, again just more lies from the BORG.

Except that then you take it for granted that none of the baptised were witnessed to last year ............................

How many baptized are born in children of jehovahs witnesses?

It's a pity we can't determine born-in baptisms vs from the field baptisms, as this would better represent the ministry effectiveness.
eg. if 4 out of every 5 baptisms are born ins, this means the number coming in from the field each year is only 55,000.

I'm going to guess that in reality out of every 10 baptisms, perhaps 1 is a result of someone actually knocking on the door. All the others are kids, family, friends, co-workers or current witnesses.

I suspect you're pretty close. Of course any time there's a talk on informal witnessing (or whatever the hell they're calling it now...) they'll always end with "of course the door-to-door work will always remain our primary method blah blah blah"

It's pretty clear that the door-to-door work is just about keeping people busy.
