Kids- I say it again and again. If I had kids, especially little ones, as I left the religion, I would want them to have a normal upbringing with birthdays and holidays and the like. Good for you to give them as much as possible of that.

AB....she's been gone for over a year and she wants to celebrate birthdays and holidays.....it's out of her control now. But at least cognac and the kids are happy having fun.

I may tell them it's none of their business, but that's as far as I'm willing to go.

    Much better approach

If you were still attending meetings , the possibility of having a power tripping elder come by and talk to you would be most likely, particularly if your baprtised..

    .

Just one thing to keep in mind just because the WTS. leaders say something is wrong doesn't mean they one has to let go of their discretion for what is right and wrong..

The attainable part of being free from the rigorous controls of organized religion is that you have the capability and complete control over what you think is right and wrong.

    .

Personally I think Halloween has gotten too gruesome and frightening for young children to participate in.

The commercialization of this event has added to the effect of frightening young impressionable minds overtly without responsible consideration.

Halloween from a perspective of what it was like back in the 1950 or 60's has dramatically changed.

Is it responsible parenting to place your children toward people's homes, who are trying to scare the kids to the highest level ???

And let them give your children mostly cheap candy that will inevitable they will eat to a point of giving them a stomachache. ??????

    .

Certainly nothing wrong with letting kids dress up or a have party where there's responsible parents overlooking things.

Just confess, and go with the flow...you will be reproved. If you're ready to leave right now......just go in with a recorder. State your doubts and enlighten us all with the JC hearing (Judicial committee not Jesus Christ). Either way, when one door closes, another opens!

I would have one of the letters onsite from previous posters available ( and reviewed by an attorney) and ready to go as far as any slander/libel issues. Two or more witnesses to the "Crime" remember?

    Refuse to play the game.

Don't give any power to the judicial committee /elders meeting games!

"You are not available" to meet them...

You know you're really "out" when you don't give a shit if you're DFed or not.

Regarding Halloween, what would happen if a JW happened to find a stray all- black cat, and decided to keep it as a pet. Would the Elders try to get the person to get rid of the black cat, saying it was Satanic or else a symbol of Halloween/Paganism? I just KNOW this has to have happened somewhere. Personally, I would tell those Elders to lick the cat's litter box and then f-off.

Congratulations on your courage Cognac. No matter where this goes you'll be better off. Seeing the impact the borg would have on my son was all I needed to get out. Had a birthday party for him, got ratted out, left and haven't looked back.

He's 15 now and thinks he's too cool for trick or treating but I got out in time to give him 7 years of normal Halloween fun!

Just deny it. Use the trusty 2 witness rule to your advantage!
