  Responding to the Question - Who are the two witnesses mentioned in Revelation chapter 11 ?

  "So in the fulfillment of Revelation chapter 11 , the anointed brothers who took the lead at the time of the establishment of God’s Kingdom in heaven in 1914 preached “in sackcloth” for three and a half years." (Watchtower 2014 11/15 Pp.28-30)

  The Watchtower claims that "the anointed brothers" in 1914 were The Two Witnesses, mentioned at Revelation 11:3 where it says " I will cause my two witnesses to prophesy for 1,260 days dressed in sackcloth.” And in verse 10 it says " And those dwelling on the earth rejoice over them and celebrate, and they will send gifts to one another, because these two prophets tormented those dwelling on the earth."

  If the Faithful & Discreet Slave of 1914 were the "Two Witnesses" according to Revelation, not only were they Prophets,..It was God who caused them to Prophey,Considering the fact that most of what They "Prophecied" about in 1914 failed to pass, this would mean that God had caused them to falsely prophecy, meaning God Lied? HMM.... Something has to give here.

  Studies in KH in the 1980's used to say that Two Witnesses were after 1918, not before. They were the group that was arrested and released in the spring of 1919 when Jesus inspected religion and find Rutherford gang to be the one to be married with. There were later changes in new light that claimed that these two witnesses started in fall of 1914, but this did not correspond exactly to 3.5 years when Rutherord was arrested for sedetion. The period when these men were held in prison was called the spiritual death of two prophets to be resurrected in 1919.

  They gotta keep coming up with stuff that inspires "study" and, of course, lots of speculation as to how it is going to bring about the end (right around the corner!)

  All these changes are a good excuse to keep printing new publications to replenish the JW's library and to keep the need for constant studies and meetings 2 or 3 times a week.

  That was a good pick up objectivetruth. No doubt they will say that the scripture in Revelation is just figurative and they were just 'prophets' not real prophets.

  Regarding the development of the scarlet-colored wild beast, an important distinction is made. In Rev. 17:8 the angel describes it as “the wild beast that you saw was, but is not, and yet is about to ascend out of the abyss.” At this stage, the beast “is about to ascend out of the abyss.” This refers to the League of Nations in the post-World War I period. However, at Rev. 11:7 , during the period following the sixth trumpet blast, the angel identifies it as “the wild beast that ascends out of the abyss.” Only after ascending out of the abyss, would it proceed to kill God’s two witnesses. This refers to the United Nations Organization during the post-World War II period.

  This prophecy cannot apply to anointed JWs in the 1914-1918 period. The beast “about to ascend out of the abyss,” only came in existence in 1919.

  how about the two witnesses Elijah and Elisha classes? the passing of the mantle? another two overlapping groups of anointed?

  You are write though, I now see that the new light shows that they were anointed, not FDS.. So this makes more sense the anointed were prophets, but the FDS are not?

  objectivetruth, when researching, even a slip on the keyboard is enlightening. For even if you changed the title from F&DS to anointed, it still shows the wt wanderings, because now they admit, that only a small no of brothers in Brooklyn were the writers, not all anointed.

  Examine please how Russel, Rutherford, Franz arrived at these applications, Rev 1:10 "--in the Lord's day--" and then the various time periods, 1260 days, on and on.

  Do you seriously think that the applications were right? that they had any meaning? do you remember Acts 1:7? " It is not given to YOU (apostles even) to understand TIMEs and Seasons, [let alone days and hours] that the Father has put in HIS OWN JURIDICTION" ?

  Even Einstein and scientists today struggle and work on TIME.

  Does it surprise you that continues to WT fail on that?

  If your research is on the details, the numbers in a story, that has as it's base a snake talking to a lady that was cloned from a spare rib, what should you expect?

  so let your research drift to more realistic subjects, but any search is good, and your trying to get your 2 witnesses, or now 7 of them right, will show you that.

  Prologos - It's interesting to not that the WT DID prophecy accurately on one topic. From a 1882 Watchtower.

  THE PROPHETIC ASPECT OF THE JEWISH PERSECUTION

  “The Jewish nation, though under a cloud, will eventually resume their ancient territory, which is so evidently kept waiting for them. The prophecies are clear as day on two points: That the Jews are to repossess Palestine, and indeed, to rule from Lebanon to Euphrates; and that this event is to be the first of a great series of changes leading to a vast improvement in the condition of poor suffering mankind and of creation in general. Now, we have here in prospect a glorious event as sure as the sun will rise tomorrow. The only difference is that the sun will rise at a certain hour, and the Jews will occupy Syria and resume their national glory at an uncertain day. No doubt it is the foible of mankind to assume that an uncertain date must be a distant one. But that is unreasonable. Surely it is the duty of wise and sober men to watch precursory signs and lend their humble co-operation, should so great a privilege be accorded to us.

  The WT didn't make that prophecy. They just repeated it the prophecies in the Bible. There is a difference between discussing another prophets words and giving your OWN words of prophecy. The Bible says it repeatedly and not in any kind of vagueness. It is very clear.
