This is very much like a family here. I think you will feel at home.
What she means is we fight a lot.
If I might do a little mindreading, you sound like you'd like to go back, but just can't because of the issues there. Might I suggest reading Ray Franz' Crisis of Conscience? It has helped many people confirm what they already knew... leaving was the best thing for them.
You sound as though you are an integrity keeper (not a bad thing, even if it is WTspeak! lol). Personally, I have found a LOT more honest and warm people in the post-Watchtower world than I did in it.
This site can be a bit scary -- as Hmmmm mentioned, it's sorta like one big family and squabbles do happen -- but it's just so wonderfully refreshing that we don't have to constantly self-censor when we have an opinion on something.

Yeah, we are like a family....and we do fight a lot (we could be a tad dysfunctional
It's hard to realize that we have to find our homes within ourselves - our comfort zone. There's so much information on the web about Jehovah's Witnesses - just look down at the bottom of this page and follow the clicks. I was raised a Roman Catholic - Franciscan nuns and some kind of priests - don't know about the Jesuit part (they all look alike in black). However, compared to my 30 year stint as a jw.....the Catholics really didn't cause me any grief......and the jw's Really Did.
Good Reading to you...and continue to post - I've made some good talking companions here.
My advise to you is not to rush things in your search for answers about "the Truth". It can be an emotional roller-coaster, and sometimes you wonder if you're doing the right thing. But it is worth it. As Andi said, your relationship with God is a personal thing. Jehovah doesn't work through an organisation, he works through individuals.
