Do you think the GB ever mentions these abuse cases directly?

The title says it all, do you think that the GB will ever bring up these cases in their literature or in a talk? I'm not talking about them just mentioning "persecution" I'm talking about actually bringing up child abuse cases and trying to justify it.

Or will it just remain the elephant in the room until years have passed?

Why would they? Zero reward, huge risk.

I agree there is a huge risk but they have to know that Witnesses are reading these news articles. They can't stop them from poping up on their TV or news feed. Any Witness who hears Jehovah's Witnesses on the news will watch it.

I very much doubt they will ever come clean and admit the huge elephant in the room. I also doubt they will ever apologize to the many victims they have damaged.

    Just look at their past...

    Organ Transpants for one.

I just had a huge heart to heart with my very active mother about this and she admitted many in the congregations are struggling with this. Many want to see changes as well, and many do know about this! I guess it's kinda hard to ignore something that is making the news.

How many topics have they come clean about in the past?

After 1975 they blamed the troops in 1976. A mealy mouthed semi apology that wasn't really an apology finally came 5 years later. That is the only thing I ever remember they sort of admitting was wrong.

    Otherwise they just revise history.

Nope, at the most they'll do what they did with rutherford's imprisonment and spin it as trumpped up charges and persecution from satan's system. It's proof that we're near the bit A. They'll certainly never try to justify it in any way that would support any of the claims made because it's just so obvious that they're totally in the wrong. What's more if they try to justify it, they'll be telling the r/f that there actually are molesters in their midst, which is something that most r/f generally assume to be impossible.

There is a QFR that addresses why the WTS does not respond to media comments. If I remember when I get home or someone posts here...........

Doubt it. I would think in excess of 90% of active JWS who are not awake to TTATT have no idea about these cases. There is no mainstream national coverage of them, and even locally they amount to a 2 minute bit on the evening news or a story buried on the local newspaper's homepage or a day or two. Combine that with the fact that your average JW is probably less up on the news than your average person.

I can't see them addressing something that is not an issue for most of their followers. Plus, look at their record in admitting when they are wrong or responding to legitimate criticism.

Why isn't this getting big news covereage like the Cathloics? Or will it once the ball really gets rolling? If it doesn't get much news coverage it's safe to say that the JW are a drop in the bucket of religon to not even get that much attention.

Or I wonder how long until reading anything in the news related to JW is "apostate" material and should be treated as such. I'm suprised they haven't pulled that card yet.

Crap, I think I just gave them an idea....
