Yes, that is the "modern" take on the Christian message. But we ought not forget that until very recently, Christians saw it as their God-directed duty to convert refusers under threat of the sword, quoting prophetic texts from the bloodiest pages of "Holy" Scripture. It was the after effects of the secular Enlightenment in the 18th Century that saw the worst excesses of Christianity step reluctantly away from the mission to force conversion upon pain of depth . Indeed, it was usually the break away apostates from the state religions who initially wore the brunt of God-led brutality. The history of splinter groups reads like spiritualized snuff movies - to use modern lingo.
Nowadays, only because of the protections of secular law, - not divine law! - apostates, as well as the "unsaved" and unrepentant are free to expose Christianity as another form of delusional entrapment without fearing for their lives. What a sad commentary on the underbelly of the Christian gospel.
Although, as we have experienced to one degree or another, we are not spared being treated as spiritually dead and shunned by "loving" Christians sore at us for daring to speak out against their cult mentality.
The Koran and the Bible are very willing bedfellows - even though many adherents from both camps remain intent on hurriedly changing the soiled sheets, deodorizing the bedding and declaring, "Not us! We're not like that!" Yeah, right.
