(This may offend some sincere 'christians'. Sorry in advance.)

Can you, as a human, stop yourself from breathing?

I have always thought that one of the basic teachings of 'christianity' is the concept that we are "mere sinners"...riddled with guilt and not worthy of god or life...undeserved kindness has been shown to us etc...

BUT, we have no control over that, just as we have no control over breathing air!

Now sins are described as "falling short of perfection", not just outright wicked acts...but just being a normal human means we are a 'sinner'.

SO, are we guilty for something we can do nothing about??

    Is that fair and just??

Perhaps it's all made up bull shit?? How many thousands of years have Xians been worrying and wondering about their "sinful" state?? What good does it do, really????

I guess if you're aim is to control people through guilt, you'd better find a way that everyone is always guilty.

    According to J-Hoover: yes

    According to J-Hoover: yes

Conclusion: J-Hoover isn't worth my time.

This is the underlining theme of Christianity that bothers me the most. The idea that we as a race of beings are unworthy of life due to the actions of 2 people. That is why I like the words of a commentator who practices the old ways:

"I pity the Christian. He begs his god in pray. I honor my god with deeds".

Sod it, if God is really kind, love and just he would understand that. I remember trying to find religion after the JW's. Then after a while I just thought, if god really is full of love and justice he would understand my situation and why I want no part of any religion anymore. I had so much peace of mind since.

My explanation would be, God sent his son in a manner to look over our sins. All we have to do is imitate the Isrealites in Moses' day who were instructed to look at the copper serpent.....and put faith in the ransom of the son so that God could forgive us our sins.....of which we have no control over.

Not sure if that answered....but thats where I am now.

Ohhhh kaaaaayy , so all you have to do today is , look at JW.ORG & JW.ORG.TV , and put faith in the Governing Body , so that God could forgive us our sins.

    Good luck with that buddy

In a nutshell, what I've read recently about the so-called redeemer religions:

The original nature-based religions fulfilled the basic needs of humanity, but the arrival of the dominator patriarchal Judeo-Christian/Islam faiths quashed what truly satisfied man's spiritual and physical requirements. What was created was an artifice that perplexed the practical-minded indigenous folk who were converted -- or not -- by the sword. Their culture, their writings, their lives were destroyed.

Invented -- ??? -- was the supreme father deity, his choosing of a special people, his giving them a unique work (preaching salvation) and, last, his visiting destruction (Apocalypse) upon those not heeding said message.

    Sound familiar?
