Exactly, Jewel!! Which proves that TM has "air balls."

Some of you are buying into this as if a real crime has been commited. It hasn't, unless this was rape. It was not described as rape.

He may be correct about the letter of the law in Texas (I still doubt it though), but I assure you the Texas courts are not being burdened down with cases involving a 14 year old and a 12 year old. Nor should they be, nor will they ever be. But indeed, in Texas, everyday, somewhere, a 14 year old and a 12 year old are having sex. I'd bet money on it.

Welcome Back JT!!! Great post....The Holiday Inn is a perfect analogy!

I agree with Six...if you hugged her, you could be brought up on possible charges...especially after being molested!! Once again, TM, cannot have balls.

What are you suppose to do as an elder???

    You are too...
    1) contact the legal department at Bethal and do exactly as they say.

Of course that's why I couldn't do this job.

You guys have got the answer all wrong. It is really very simple.

First of all, you ask the boy if he did it. If he says "no", just ignore it and tell the girl and her family to keep quiet, or you will disfellowship them. (After all, she is only one Witness)

If he says "yes", you tell them both to keep quiet, or you will disfellowship them. Then you give the boy a slap on the wrist (say, no commenting for the first three paragraphs of Sundays WT study).

This prevents any reproach from coming on Jehovah's organization, of which you are a prince.

    All done.

    Matrix:

Interesting that you should use this red herring example. It is quite evident that many, many Elders can't properly handle the cases where the adults are molesting the children! I'm sure those same Elders wouldn't have a clue what to do in the case of two minors. But that is the point isn't it? Ignore and confuse the issue in front of you by bringing up a different one. It's called "gaslighting" and it still doesn't solve a very real problem-in either area.

And we all have heard what the response is when Elders call the legal department for "direction". "Don't get yourself in a jamb" If the legal department isn't going to direct the turning in of an adult in to the authorities in a state where it is required by law; why would anyone think the instructions would be any different if it were minors involved? We all heard the tape of how the WTS legal department handles calls about this.

You may be interested in confusing the issue here but I can assure you-from what I've experienced- you'll confuse NOONE here.

"Spiritual Leaders?" There is a huge difference between leading and controlling.

PS: I forgot to mention that the 12 year old should be forced to describe the intimate details to at least three middle aged men, who will later on visit her for personal "counseling".

Your #5 is highly specious. Every witness (including elders) I have ever talked to say "We don't need therapists or psychologists, we have God's word to help us through the tough times!"

This is true, I think they call that the "old school". I think younger elders now adays have a different view and appreciate the job that experienced counselors do.

I'd ask the parents if they were OUT OF THEIR MINDS wasting their time talking to me
I have to disagree with you, Jewel. It is not a "waste of time" to speak to an elder about the abuse and what happened. Elders are there to comfort and help Jehovah's sheep. Talking about it with someone else helps greatly as you know that you have someone that understands you and loves you. It helps the victim realize that not everyone is like her abuser that is out to exploit her. So they are not wasting their time, they are using a resource that Jehovah provided biblically.

By the way Matrix, you forgot to warn the girl not to tell anyone else in the congregation about that incident and to leave it in Jehovahs hands because he would take care of it in his own due time.
Well in Erica's case it wouldn't matter if she talked to others in the congregation about it since she was living in California and the abuser was from Washington (?I think I remember she said Washington)

I think it's up to the victim if she wants to talk to other about it or not. Most of the time, I don't think they do since they feel embarrased about what happened and it hurts them to talk about it with others.

I do agree with you that I would have told her that Jehovah will take care of it in due time, but some steps can be taken in the meanwhile. Informing the police of the crime is one of them.

It is not the right of WBTS to decide on legal matters,it is the right of the legal authorities in that area.
They are not deciding on legal matters, they are informing elders of what state law requires of them. Since when is it wrong to receive legal counsel?

You better watch out what you are saying, Bill Bowen is facing disfellowshipping for doing exactly as you said you would do. Barbara Anderson IS disfellowshipped for doing it. It is very easy for you to show up on this site and say what you "would have done." Saying and doing is two very different things.
Thanks for the warning, but I'm not publically attacking the Watchtower so no one will disfellowship me. I am pointing out what I would do in that situation and showing that most Jehovah's Witnesses do care for the victims.

"old school"? Is that anything like "new light"? Or perhaps I am hearing "bull shit"?

A noble gesture that may have you removed as an elder for reasons another poster earlier has stated. Have you forgotten the usefulness of 'needs talks'? Do you not trust in the Theocratic Order?

That is, if you are in a reporting state. If you are not in a reporting state, you would not tell the cops about the crime committed, and you know it.
