    Proplog2:

The HQ sent out a letter explaining their policy on child abuse. It has been well received as are ALL decisions from the GB.

New letter from the Governing Baffoons

At the next service meeting's end, pass out the koolaid. Let no LOYAL Witness of the true God refrain from partaking, or question it's contents.

I hope this too will be "well recieved"...

    Hi, Bill

You hit the nail squarely and undeniably on the head when you said,

"Yet not one [Watchtower] initiative has discovered the basic need to call the police, not one initiative has educated parents on the primary need to report the matter to authorities, in 10-15 years of articles devoted to the subject. In seven body of elder letters written over a 13 year period no initiative is mentioned regarding the need to ENCOURAGE reporting, with no certified clinical training on how to help abuse victims."

Though Watchtower policy not to encourage reporting to authorities was subtly pointed out in Dateline's presentation, one of the victims highlighted it near the end of the program. This intentional omission represents such blinding arrogance and lack of concern for neighbor that it defies senses to understand how loving people could practice it. The fact of the matter is this omission HURTS children inside and outside the community of Jehovah's Witnesses.

Any person who wants to help one of Jehovah's Witnesses understand in a nutshell the fact that Watchtower policy is terribly lacking, all they have to do is say to the Witness, "I can understand why Watchtower policy would not discourage victims from reporting their allegations to authorities, but why do they not encourage this reporting?"

    Great job, Bill!

People like you CRAVE attention.Unfortunately you've reached your peak and its down-hill from here.

That's the problem, decisions from the GB, I have a letter which clearly states you may NOT press charges against your brother. What about two witnesses to an act of molestation?

You honestly believe that Bill Bowen craves attention? You must be blind, if craving attention is saving children from deviant acts of a pedophile then I welcome any attention that you imply he craves.

: Mr. Brown ... And over the past 10-15 years, we've published numerous articles and other materials, especially for the elders, telling them what needs to be done to help those who have been victimized in this way.

Over the past 80+ years they've published numerous articles on how the Watchtower religion fulfills Bible prophecy. All of it is bullshit. It changes every decade and whatever they said last decade is meaningless now.

Watchtower articles on molestation victims are better than their prophecy bullshit, but are still disgustingly self-serving. Furthermore, it is demonstrable that the few really good articles have, for all practical purposes, been cancelled in succeeding years by letters to bodies of elders and changes in orally given policy that gradually negated the good policies. For example, a 1991(?) Awake! article on abuse of women was opposed by GB member Ted Jaracz. When he found out it was in the process of being printed, he literally tried to stop the presses. Thankfully, other GB members prevailed. But over the next several years, Jaracz, being head of the Service Department and therefore the head over all elders, introduced new policies that cancelled out virtually every good thing said in the Awake! article. In fact, elders who called Service were informed that the Awake! article was a mistake. By 1998 the process of killing every good point was complete -- a 1998 WT article reinstituted the policy of "if a woman is raped and cannot prove that she screamed, she is to be disfellowshipped". Most JWs don't even know this since the policy change was made in a footnote.

It is a shame that the "rape/not screaming=disfellowshipping" policy was not featured on dateline. It would have tied in nicely and would have showed that the Society did and still does disfellowship abuse victims. The whole rape/not screaming thing is IMO one of the most disturbing applications of an old testiment scripture and would probably sicken a large portion of Witnesses if they were aware of it.

This organization for the most part still pisses on women. The fact that many raised eyebrows and were prepared to discount the dateline episode on the basis that barb anderson had access to the confidential files she did, show the extreme rarity of women in responsible positions.

Can you please provide a reference for this footnote? I'd like to consider myself what you've asserted on this point.

I'm not Alan, but I hope this can help. Comments from Alan are accepted and expected!!!!!

A quick note first to say thank you to everyone on this board for the months of support and friendship, and for putting up with all of my ranting/raving postings. I am in your debt always.
I apologize in advance for the length of this post, and for the depressing subject.

Situation I was raped in 1989, and because I did not resist my attacker (and lived) I was df'd in view of the WT position at the time.

This is the History of the WT view toward rape as far as I could find it.

    WT 1-15-64 scream
    WT 6-1-68 scream
Aid to Bible Understanding, 1969, 1971 don't scream
    Awake! 3-8-74 scream
    Awake! 7-8-80 don't scream
    WT 10-15-80 scream
    WT 3-15-83 don't scream
    Awake! 2-22-84 scream
Awake! 6-8-84 don't scream and scream
    Awake! 5-22-86 scream
Insight on the Scriptures, 1988 don't scream
    Awake! 3-8-93 don't scream

As you can see, my assault in 1989 placed me right in between 'screaming' in 1986 and 'not screaming' in 1993. (I guess the Insight book was ignored by my elders, oh WELL that's so NEW) I thought by 1999 things had settled once and for all, for crying out loud. Because I have one child still 'in' the org, I sought reinstatement, and the elders said "fine, just come to meetings and all will be forgotten."

Well I wasn?t ready to "forget" and so just simply didn?t attend meetings regularly. I was aware also that the WT has a poor history of accepting back new-light/old-light disenfranchised ones such as myself. Better for them if people like me just stay out.

    Last night I did research, and found this;

WT 12/15/98 This exemplifies that when it comes to money and material things, victims of robbery who do not resist may reduce the likelihood of injury.

And a footnote; There are, of course, limits to cooperation. Jehovah's servants do not cooperate in any way that violates God's law. For example, a Christian would not willingly submit to rape.

    translation: scream!

I had wondered why the elders hadn't called at my home at all in over two years in spite of some meeting attendance, now I know why. Since I had objected to the Society's stance at my df'ing hearing, that makes me (this year SO FAR) at the least an unrepentant fornicator and at most a quasi/fullblown apostate.

    QUESTION:
My WT CD-ROM only goes to 1999, does anyone know if this is the newest present 'light' or have there been more changes even yet? Because if this is the latest WT stance, I?m going to sit through meetings for 6 months to a year for NOTHING. I wouldn't be reinstated untill the policy changes again, if even then. Any insights would be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance, Gsark
