Whats the difference? I see no need to make an issue out of selling it to whoever has the dough.

That may be true, however, Witnesses, especially those who own their own businesses have had to alter their business practices, and in some cases lose money because they were told NOT to do busines with babylon. Raymond Franz in 'Crisis' covers this issue quite well.

No business were allowed with Babylon-the-Grape. Period.
Your children were not even allowed to go to a private schools owned by a church. Ask me.

No one is disputing that JWs are not allowed to have regular business with BTG.

However, a one-off sale of a KH is not considered regular business.

It's like you saying that JWs aren't allowed to sell their cars to a priest. It's a one-off transaction. So is the sale of a KH.

In the business world one is not required to sell only to those
of one's religious persuasion. Churches of varying denominations sell to whomever they will and these same buildings often times end up serving other purposes than originally intended. Is it not unfair to expect JWs to sell only to their own?

heheh..In Dallas, right around the corner from where I grew up, there is a building that used to be one of the first meeting places for the Watchtower Bibile & Tract Society Students? (I can't remember)....anyway, you will be proud to know that is has been the home of Luchea's now for more than 40 years... she's a curandera, purveyor of all kinds of demonic thangs...reads palms, tells fortunes, does astrology charts, etc. Just thought I would share this uplifting message with the flock.

Its funny how JWs don't mind selling property, but try getting them to buy some other church's property now....Noooo the demons!!!

Not True Valis, although the sale did not go through, my last congregation was in the process of purchasing an old church bulding, but as I said, the sale didn't go through. It was big enough to hold five congregations at once.

One congregation was very keen on selling their kingdom hall in order to "upgrade". In time a Korean Assembly of God church expressed an equally keen desire to purchase the hall.

Since an english and spanish congregation shared the hall, scheduling an appointment for the koreans to inspect the hall was tricky. Eventually an appointment was made to look at the hall when the spanish congregation was going to be away for a special assembly day.

The english congregation had afternoon meetings so Sunday morning was the perfect time to show off the hall to the koreans. At the appointed time (10 am Sunday morning, after the english meeting for field service) three men showed up.

They were welcomed and the tour began. As it progressed, two of the men would occasionally shout "Praise the Lord"! During the tour the remaining man would go outside momentarily and then return but was mostly very quiet.

After this went on for a while, on of the elders giving the tour asked the quiet fellow what he thought of the kingdom hall. He said, "I dont know what to think, Im the visiting speaker for the spanish congregation and with these people shouting "Praise the Lord", I had to go outside and check if I was at the right place!"

RR, btw, didnt you mean "exorbitant", instead of "absorbant"?

Waiting that is about the most disgusting thing I've ever heard.

Note to ANYONE donating anything to the WBTS: isn't it possible to put a clause in the donation that states such can not be sold for ANY REASON and must be turned back over to the person's estate if no longer needed by the WBTS?
