I recall reading a couple years back, some court documents posted on an ex-JW site that stated that Charles Taze Russell was accused by his wife (at their divorce hearing) of sexually abusing a girl that they had taken in to their home. Does anyone have any information on this? Or know where I can find this again?

Well, RR will argue with you vehemently about it, but it's my personal belief that if you go back and examine Russell's whole life style, you will find that he FITS the profile of a child molester in too many ways.
Anyway, go to www.freeminds.org. The book is called "Visions of Glory" by Barbara Grizutti Harrison, and the whole Charles and Maria Russell story is gone into great detail there. The whole text is available there with the kindest permission of the author who has since passed away.

Also, RR says anaother author went into great detail about Russell's personal life, I don't know who that was but would love to know wmyself.

I understand that that child was 21 or 23 years old at the time of the so called fondling. This was not some teen age girl.

Russell has been accused of molesting Rose Ball over the years. Rose did not come to live with them till she was fourteen years of age. In the trial to which you refer, Mrs Russell was refering to a later time when Rose was 24 years of age. There is no written evidence or court testimony to indicate Russell molested Rose as a child. Many have misinterpeted the court testimony to mean just that, not so if you confirm the time period referred to by Mrs. Russell in the Court transcripts. While Russel had many faults, there is no evidence to date to show he was a child molester. Mrs. Russell and Mr. Russell had a celebate marriage.
I believe Rose was 16 at the time Russell was going into her bedroom and having her sit on his lap. In Barbara's book it is brought out, I believe in an endnote, that he also had at least one female fanatic admirer we'd call a groupie today who was arrested for pushing herself on him. You who are with the Bible Students typically race to deny he was anything but pure at all time. Doubtful. He was all human, folks.
His wife Maria eventually had female problems which disabled her from having sex with him and meanwhile women fans were all around him. He was said at the trial in question to have said he was like a jellyfish who'd float around a little here then a little there.
But to please you folks who are Bible Students who split from the Watchtower Society when Rutherford took over, let's say Russell was a man who was highly superior in morals, a superman in resisting female temptations, but still yet we can and do also note that that has not been true of today's Watchtower Society Governing Body members.

Further, Ewert Chitty, also of the Gov Body was not disfellowshipped but transferred for homosexuality after it became wider known. Some believe current members of the Gov Body may also be pedophiles, homosexuals or the like, and it is part of why the Gov Body is scared to "open its books" or sin-files on this issue.
Messenger is correct: Rose Ball was 24 when Maria Russell caught her husband with Rose on his lap in her bedroom. It's pretty obvious what was going on, since Russell was about 43 at the time. The Russells had a celibate marriage, apparently stemming from their 1879 belief that in 1881 they would be going to heaven.
Eventually a book will come out that details these things, and a lot more besides, about the life of the Russells. There will be some amazing (or perhaps not) revelations about C. T. Russell's sex life.

Okay here's the scoop.
Russell was never accused of child abuse or sexual abuse. In fact in the actual court case Maria Russell was asked if she thought her husband was, and she stated "no."
Consider also that Rose Ball, married Ernest C. Henninges, branch manager of London, and then Australia. Henninges in 1909 started the biggest schism up to that time in Watchtower history, a rippled that affected Bible Students ALL over the world.
A movement that still exist today. E.C. died in the 1940s, Rose Ball a few years later. In all their writings, including a bi-monthly journals, NEVER did they ever mention Russell abusing her. If she really wanted to destroy him, don't you think she wold have stated, "yes, he abused me as a child" or "yes, we had an affair."
In fact, other thena doctrinal disagreements, they had nothing bad to say about the man's character.

Maybe, maybe not. It depends on what she wanted more -- to hurt C. T. or to keep her own reputation intact. While C. T. was never accused of child abuse, he was certainly accused of having a mild affair with Rose. Maria accused him of it, and he never denied it. Perhaps they never "went all the way". Who do you think is more likely to have told the truth about the "Rose Ball affair"? C. T. or Maria? Who had more to lose?
