Quote:......"Jah is a HOLY and an exacting God. He does not tolerate uncleaness/ sin"

God does not TOLERATE sin? I guess were all doomed! We all sin.
Wasn't that why Christ came.....to cleanse us from sin?

Even unintentianal sin, or a little goof-up is sin....deserving of death. Nobody can be free of sin unless what is said about Christ and his atonement is true.

I also wondered about this passage. One thing that I do recall when talking to others about it a while back was that the angels and Satan weren't actually in God's presence. I also remember reading other Bible translations and they were differnt then the NWT.

If Satan was kicked out of heaven in 1914, I'm sure that didn't bother him. After all, wasn't he already here on earth beginning in
Genesis down through the book of Revelation. And hasn't he been here on earth since 1914? From the beginning, earth's inhabitants have
    to deal with him!

    gumby....

not being corrective...just that a deep (repressed) memory stirred when i read your comment...

Even unintentianal sin, or a little goof-up is sin....deserving of death

so i wiped dust off my old copy of NWT largeprint, turned to the well marked (with notations) pages of 1 john 5:16 ... and yes, just as i recalled ...""if anyone catches sight of his brother sinning a sin that does not incur death...... etc, etc, etc...

i ain't gonna get bogged down in semantics...

and yes, i know that in other places it is clear that sin = death..

so just shows how difficult to interpret a book written by men....

1 John 5:16 refers to sins specificaly sanctioned with penalties in the Mosaic Law?

It seems my "off the cuff" comment above is wide of the mark. According to Bible commentaries, it was the Gnostic teaching to which this epistle refers, that is "the sin that leads to death". I stand corrected.
