Hell, some go so far as redefine the word "cult" (at least internally) to ensure the average member doesn't suspect.

I think it`s a great thread cappytan ,in #14 you could have added the great tribulation as well .
"The governing body are not leaders of this organization ?" They are the ones giving direction through the Watchtower and conventions,
"Do they use various means to extract money from their members ? " And at the same time soliciting money for different projects ?
What other organization redefines their beginnings like Jehovah Witnesses do , most if not all organizations are very proud of their beginnings , not the Witnesses , they disown the teachings of their modern day founder C.T.Russell .
Maybe it is because C.T.Russell stated in his literature that new light should never supplant or change previously held truth ,it should only enlarge or expand on the previously held truth .
In other words , not come up with some completely different interpretation , as what happens so often with today`s Governing Body .
As far as coming up with their own definitions of words , how do they get away with this.? Generation ???
