  Hi Andi & Patio,

  I agree. We have too many newbies here that will continue to question Larc's identity and genuineness unless he had stated the facts

  You may be right, but I do see things differently. When people suggest that a person on a public discussion Board should declare their business or academic credentials without deeming fit to declare their own, I see an agenda and most certainly would not respond to it.

  If anybody were to question my own dubious credentials...lol, and I saw that I would be playing 'their game' by doing so, I would politely suggest to them that they whistle Beethovens Fifth into a very stiff breeze.

  We owe nothing to anybody on this Board ( excepting Simon and Angharad ) but civility and good manners and for myself, that is all I expect..

  For example, I have been called a liar by a poster on this Board because I informed him that I had read a certain book and he did not think that I had. He demanded that I quote a passage for him to prove my point. Never in a million years would I accede to such demands, and I would not care what conclusions were drawn by anybody looking in from my lack of cooperation. You see, his motive was in my opinion, not generated from curiosity but from malevolence, as such it does not deserve a response. Larc was reffered to as a 'fraud', he proved he was not. I suspect that it made little difference to both Larc and his accusers views of each other, and also had a minimal and not important affect on other peoples view of either party.

  Good points about whether to post valid & accepted credentials or not. Many of us know Larc/Carl - and we knew some of your credentials - but certainly not the entire list. Quite impressive.

  It is shameful that people can't accept that a person can be a person.....and have earned high credentials in their lives. I would think that those who post speculative doubts without any verification or proof - are insecure in their own intelligence and accomplishments.

  Now me? Naaaaaaaaaaaaa, I'll NEVER have your accreditation - but can accept yours and accept you as a friend....if you accept me.

  Btw, wasn't it a poster over at Kent's who left after people questioned his verification....and he didn't respond? Did Wendy continue to be his "business partner?" I certainly hope he finally told her his real name before she moved her family to be near him for their business venture.

  In this instance - I think the consensus (as Simon did in his explanation about Wendy's & others' insults to him) - it is better to explain. Because even a lie said often enough might be believed. And we have scads of new persons here who don't know the history between some of the long term posters.

  Hey bono,

  You think you can understand my writing? I doubt it and I will tell you why. I am writing to a very specialized audience. To test this out, go to your library and pick up any issue of the Journal of Applied Psychology and see if you understand it. Next, try Educational and Psychological Measurements and see how you fare. Hell, I have degrees in this specialty and I can't understand most of it, and when I do I have to read it three or four times before I get it.

  Sometimes I have mixed feelings about being ambivalent - hee hee. On one hand, I would like to remain above the fray and not respond. On the other hand, I don't care for my reputation being impuned. Hillary, my background might not matter to my detractors, but it might matter to those who think I have credibality, and I don't want to lose that credability.

  Before this recent foray, I simply wrote psych. topics, such as: Groupthink, Social Influence, Self Esteem, Free Will versus Determinism, and IQ stories. Now, I would think that would establish credibility, but for any detractors, I did post my very brief resume for their edification and delight.

  Well, it has been interesting and much fun.

  And I've enjoyed those threads Very Much. But then, I was bashed for even participating (not from anyone on this board at that time). It seems that only Those With High Qualifications should post. Lol, as if this wasn't a DISCUSSION FORUM!

  I've learned a lot from this place - and I've learned a lot of knowledge from you......and jokes. Remember that old saying (paraphrasing):

  Intelligent people talk about ideas. Average persons talk about people. Yeah, I fall average most of the time.....but you have - time and time again - gave me a hand up to the talk with the intelligent people. Thanks.

  Howdy as an introduction, I got from you, and I kinda like it.

  Now, you say you got bashed for participating? Well, I got bashed for starting them, especially the self esteem thread, and my comments about the psychoanalytic bull shit. I am glad that you like my knowledge and my jokes, but I will tell you one thing. My jokes are more important. Now, as far as intelligence and ideas versus average and talking about people, well I must have a multiple personality, like Sybil, because I like talking about both. Well, what to do, what to do. I think I will get a therapist to integrate my multiple personalities, and then I will only talk about ideas about people. That should make me a good gossip.

  Do you realize how much fun I have with all of this? Life is good.

  By the way, what happened to Simon's software? All my paragraphs are getting crunched into one long thingy.

  Credentials are similar to clothing, some people wear them better than other's. Put $5,000 Armani suit on, most will not notice the difference from a JC Penny outfit. The Armani suit wearer knows just how much of an investment it was, and probably cares very little if anyone recognizes it.

  Let somebody try and use that Armani suit for a dust cloth, watch out.

  I understand perfectly why you got mad. The sour grapes were being smashed all over your person, you have every right and obligation to stop the dirtying up of your name.

  The absolute low brow, trailer trash, manner of some of these detractor's are clearly on display for all to see. They have demeaned and dirtied thier own reputations, in other words it backfired on em.

  We have not always seen eye to eye on things, but you have always treated me fairly. But I still think Zazu is your better half!!!

  My quick response:

  Who cares.....if you treat people right they will respect you even if you are a simple man. If you behave like a dick and treat them bad they will NOT respect you. I don't care if you have a PHD or not....treat me bad and I am apt to tell you to F yourself pretty quickly.

  Feeling like you have to prove your credentials them.....they obviously found your insecurity, Larc. Why did you let them get to you? This is not an attack on you but someone could wonder why you choose to play the game at all.

  hey Danny,

  You and my wife have at least one thing in common. The two of you don't always see, eye to eye with me. That's OK. I won't divorce either one of you. And is my wife my better half? You betcha. I would go so far as to say that she is my better three quarters or even my better seven eighths, or even my.... well never mind. I don't want ta do any more fractions.
