: But I was unclear on the answer to this question>>>>If a person was baptized before 1975 can they be DFd for choosing to no longer associate?

Contract, conschmack. The WTS can disfellowship anyone for any reason. They don't honor people's very lives, preferring to let them die needlessly for a stupid policy they know is wrong, so what makes you think they would honor any contracts with their members?

I forgot the date I was baptized !!! I forgot the exact date within the first year I was baptized. I kept thinking that I should ask someone but then I would've been totally embarrassed. As a sect even the Supreme Court has taken to reviewing cases.

As Farkel said, if the Society wants, it can find a way to DF anyone. They don't play by anyone's rules except the ones they invent as needed.

Nevertheless, I believe that if someone under the gun invokes some of the ideas presented in this thread and other recent ones (pre-1985 baptismal vows, baptised as a minor), especially one-on-one with a lone elder, and threatens a lawsuit against the elders not the Society, this will give the elders a lot of incentive to leave the person alone. At least until recently, the Society has deemed it not worthwhile to go after someone who is not a clear threat to some local congregation. This may be changing, but if so it will generate plenty of lawsuits, I think.
