So brohter (not elder or anything but many years active) had to give talk this week. Talk related to how Jehovah gives abilities to people thru the spirit. Started off with the mention of how God told Moises to build the tent and gave people the abilities to work wood, stone, etc. He then went on to mention the amount of work that goes on the publishing work, finalizing with the new TV broadcasting, etc. One of his quotes mentioned how the society launched their first website in 1997, to provide publications , etc. He forgot that in 1997, watchtower.org was nothing more than a placeholder. It had nothing in it. He also forgot to mention how the internet was demonized for many years. Oh poor brother, he is a bit old after all. May be losing his memory. -

Perhaps early 1997 contained it as a placeholder. The domain was registered in 1996. But by November, this article appeared in the KM. By then, it was no longer a placeholder.
Good News on the Internet
In our technological age, some people obtain information from electronic sources, including the Internet. So the Society has put on the Internet some accurate information about the beliefs and activities of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Our Internet Web site has the address http://www.watchtower.org and contains a selection of tracts, brochures, and Watchtower and Awake! articles in English, Chinese (Simplified), German, Russian, and Spanish, as well as in other languages. The publications on this Web site are already available through the congregations and are in use in the ministry. The purpose of our Web site is, not to release new publications, but to make information available to the public in electronic format. There is no need for any individual to prepare Internet pages about Jehovah’s Witnesses, our activities, or our beliefs. Our official site presents accurate information for any who want it.Although our site has no provision for electronic messages (E-mail), it lists postal addresses of branches around the globe. Thus people can write to obtain more information or to receive personal assistance from Witnesses locally. Feel free to share the above Internet address with any who might be inclined to begin learning Bible truth from this format.

I love the way witnesses just make up "facts" all the time. "truth" "facts" these don't have to be really true or based on evidence!... Ive heard so much stupid shit from the stage and comments at the watchtower this is whey they don't want talks recorded and so on.

"This is the only official Web site of the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society, the legal organization in use by Jehovah's Witnesses. While other sites may express favorable or unfavorable opinions about us and our work, this site is the authoritative source about the beliefs, teachings, and activities of Jehovah's Witnesses."
haha oh how behind they were. Almost 20 years later and they're even more on the defense about the internet.

PS - It's sad to think they really just started using the internet in the last few years. Maybe in another 20 years they will use social media.

Look how far behind the site was in 2012! It makes no sense. They are literally terrified of every new advancement by the human race.
