    I remember a number of years ago when Mickey Spillane left the Jws and returned to book writing. Does anyone know his current status? I don't hear anything about him today. Is he still alive? Does he still write? Does he practice any religion? Etc.

    Also, does anyone know if there are current Jw authors, with books on the market?

    Mickey Spillane was DF'd twice because of the nature of his writings. It was big news in Southern California each time it happened. My mother was a big fan of his books. Among his notable works is the Mike Hammer TV detective series. My understanding is that after his second DF'ing he has never returned to the JWs.

    I did a quick web search on Mickey Spillane and came up with the following;

    http://www.kirjasto.sci.fi/spillane.htm

    Between 1953 and 1961 Spillane stopped writing full-lenght novels after conversion to the Jehovah's Witnesses, and between 1973 and 1989 for sixteen years, when he advertised Miller Lite beer. In 1962 Spillane brought Hammer back with THE GIRL HUNTERS,.

    From what I read below, it sounds like he is still a JW in this interview. I dont know the date of it, but since Clinton is mentioned, it had to be in the 90s sometime.

    You were raised a Catholic, right?
    No I wasn't raised either one (Catholic or Protestant). I'm one of the Jehovahs Witnesses.
    You joined in the fifties?
    You don't join that, you have to be a witness. Witnessing is an active word.

    The site Animal listed said he was still active and from what was said in the above interview, (to be found about half way through it) he sounds like he is still stuck in it. But, at 82 (his age when interviewed) what else does he have?

    Personally, I never would have guessed he was a JW. Learn somehting new everyday.

    Great find Dakota Red. I checked out those Crimetime magazines and found that the interview of Spillane by Michael Carlson appeared in the June 11, 2001 issue. And yes, he still considers himself a Jehovah's Witness. I, too, am surprised.

    I have nothing to back this up as fact, but I thought I had heard that Mickey died in the late 90's.
