Farkel, Ah, but they do use resurrections in moderation. Same as they use alcohol in moderation. i think there is a discrepancy in the definition of the word moderation. Ya, that must be it.
Unlike most other religious communites, the JW's do not have any concept of what friendship is other than the brainwashed concept funneled down to them from the GB. That is that friendship with anyone who is not a witness is being an enemy of God. And friendship with anyone who leaves the "TRUTH" is totally forgotten, no matter how long, or how close, one's friendship was. They have distorted the concept in the Bible that they use to validate this behavior. They have been programmed to believe that friendship with worldlings is friendship with Satan. That scripture has been totally distorted, it's true meaning really is putting things of this world above your conscience of what is right and what is wrong. Witnesses think of this scripture as the "world" being people. They are so fearful of making themselves God's enemy because of the Armegeddon thing, that they live there whole lives with these distorted scriptural concepts. I have looked up scriptures in other Bibles and compared them to the NWT and found how unbelievably controlled in thinking JW's really are because of the WT adding and embelleshing their own thoughts on these Scriptures.
going back to what he said about studying with that "Willy" dude and the NWT of the Bible.
remember a company called "Stoops Mfg." that catered directly to witnesses? mainly bookbags, but especially Bibles. you could order those really expensive leather ones with your name engraved in it in gold. notice how it said "Holy Bible" on the front cover. but it was really a NWT.
just a thought.
Witnesses are not great.
Individuals can be great, though. That's the difference.
Good JWs helped out the community when WTC fell.
Others, like elders in my town, laughed and talked joyously about the end when they fell.
It's all about the individual, and the club, religion, or social class they belong to doesn't matter a damn.

I agree with ashi.
Last night I was talking to a parent of one of the kids on my sons baseball team. This parent just happens to be a Southern Babtist minister. We were discussing some of the coaches in our league and who might be a good coach for his son. I told him of one coach I really like and thinking it might be important to this paticular parent, mentioned that he was a "good church going man."
The Southern Babtist minister let me know quickly that he didn't equate going to church with being good person.
I know some really good people that are JW's. I also know some really good people who are members of other religions. And I also know some very good people that don't have any religion in there life at all.
Kaykay,
Yeah I remember ordering from Stoops manufacturing -- those were the JW"s that operated a mail-order firm out of Missouri.
I used to like their greeting cards because they used the name Jehovah...people would wonder where did you get those cards?
But I always wondered when you ordered on the phone, they would call me "brother"... How did they know I was a JW? And I thought you weren't supposed to have businesses specifically geared towards JW's? Yet the Stoops were in good standing -- they got invited to the special international conventions (or at least said so in their little flyers).
Anyhow kaykay -- best wishes on the birth of your boy next month! Take care and welcome to the board. Auf wiedersehen for now!

I agree with SYN and Ashi. JWs as a whole are KNOWN as good people but when you break it down on an individual basis the stats can be VERY different.
Witnesses are NOT great folks. In my opinion the majority of them PRETEND to be great whilst under the delusion that the "new personality" will make them that way. When in reality they betray their god-given individuality and hide behind a shitty false veneer.
I do not think they are great or even good.
How many witnesses give to homeless shelters, help out in food banks, give to the Salvation Army or United Way?
How many witnesses actually help people? Help being the key word. I know witnesses who will drop everything to go on a quick build KH, go pick up infirm Bro. So&So, bring a casserole to Sister X. However, the bottom line is that they only help their kind. If you are not a witness or studying to be one, you get no help.
What ever happened to just helping other people; go on a Habitat for Humanity build and see how other people work. Help that family get a home....not another KH.
I do not know of any witnesses who would help out in these types of charities. Their arguements are tired and old.
The arguement that helping someone gain eternal life is a joke. Go help someone who needs help now. Oh, they might meet a bad association...Yikes!!!
