The movie I had in mind which has the line, "Why are you being so obtuse?" was from the movie The Shawshank Redemption as was already pointed out. Whether it was also in a movie with Greer Garson or not, I don't know.
Here's a really good one, I think.

Right on both counts.
The reason I chose that particular StarWars quote is because many people have the misconception Darth Vader said:
"Luke, I am your father."
when in fact he said:
"Search your feelings you know it to be true. (dramatic pause) I, am your father."
