Then why not make peace, or highlight to the world the oppression? Blowing up children does not create sympathizers.

There are very powerful forces that don't want peace. The common people want peace, but they don't call the shots. The Israelis and Palestinians are both just pawns in a much bigger geo-political game. Over the last century the British Empire, the verifiable imperial throne of Satan the Devil, carved up that part of the world into various satrapies. According to the animalistic thinking of the men entrusted by the Devil to administer his system of things, by fostering various ethnic rivalries and divisions, Anglo imperialists can fire up a war when they need to, and evidently the need is great now, because the long-standing global financial system is about to disintergrate, so they need a war to maintain control through tyranny. And as a legacy of the British Empire there are a number of hot spots that they have to choose from right now as ground zero.

The United States has, in their campaigns, killed innocent people. But, I can't remember the States targeting civilians, just civilians killed being the byproduct of killing the bad guy (for lack of a better term).

There are tens of thousands of women and children that have died as a result of the U.S. bombing the infrastructure of Iraq ten years ago during Desert Storm. Power stations and water purification stations and that sort of thing are essential to life and not military targets. Bombing the facilities that support human life is more insideous than bombing directly, and more cowardly. But, the result is the same.

No one's innocent here, it seems, except for the people being killed. It's a real shame.

Of course its a shame. The three major religions of Christendom, Islam, and Jewry are all to blame for the ongoing stupidity that is surely going to end in an unimaginable disaster. / You Know

This problem, which is an aberration of history, does somersaults in my mind and is very hard to quantify. What you have here is a three thousand year old man and another three thousand year old man who hate each other so intensely that have forgotten to remind themsleves that they are blood brothers.

What has to be said is that the Israelis have a lot to answer for in the way that they have handled this problem since the late 40s. As has been mentioned, the Israelis have indeed been guilty of vile conduct toward a relatively defenseless people.

What also has to be said is that the Palestinians until recently have consistently refused to even politically recognize a Jewish state, sworn non-cooperation, and have even seriously suggested the validity of the total annihilation of every man women and child in Israel. Not the most subtle of angles to take when you are out-armed, out-educated, and need Israeli businesses and Israeli allies to feed your people. They receive per-capita the same input financially that the Israelis from the rest of the world, but the money falls into the hands of a few ruling families. You are talking tribal wars here, whatever cars the perpetrators drive.

An important point that is often overlooked, is that Israel has been a restrained nuclear power for many years, Palestine has not. If Palestine was a nuclear power I wonder how long they would restrain themselves before they cooked themselves a Middle Eastern Kosher dish.

Like Willy the Shake, I really would really like to say 'A pox on both your houses', but I fear like Robert that conflagration is a reality and we will all in one way or the other be affected by it.

Is it possible that Islam could begin to be viewed as a great Threat to Worldwide Peace and Security?

I always wondered why the Palestinians target civilians. I think they are just hurting their cause. As an American I have much more respect for people that fight a guerrilla war and target the other sides military units, but by attacking moms and kids it just makes me think these people are murderous thugs.

Oh well I wonder if this things every going to end. I did read someones solution in the paper the other day. What the author was suggesting was that the area would be split into two separate countries along the lines suggested by Clinton. The Palestinians would have no right of return but would be monetarily compensated by Israel (read USA ). Jerusalem would be governed by both countries via a council. Not a perfect solution but the best one that I have seen; all the rest seem to involve a genocide.

In reality though I think this solution would not work because what this war is really about is simple racism on both sides. It seems that countries in that part of the world have lost control on their lunatics.
