Ear pierced (page 2)

This reminds me of a friend I had during my last days in the borg. He didn't know my 'worldly' leanings, so he valued what appeared to be my good JW advice. He wanted to get his ear pierced and kept asking me whether he should do it or not. Growing tired of his asking, I told him to go for it. When he asked what to do about the reaction of the brothers and sisters at the hall, I simply told him not to wear it to the meetings. He then informed me that that would be living a double life and he simply couldn't do that.

Honestly, though, if you want to get your ear pierced get it pierced. It's your body...your decision.

ROFL Francois, nothing pierced, but I remember hearing the spiel over and over and over and over again at different meetings and assemblies.............the mind numbing sound of it.....

Umm actually I knew a lot of JW's with tattoo's. My friend Josh was an ink junkie. Sure he got flack, but pretty much they had to say it was personal choice, and up to his c oncscience...I would imagine ears are the same deal, of course they will discourage it, but they really can't say anything about it...

No male JW would be allowed to have his ear pierced and remain in good standing.

No male JW would be allowed to get a tattoo AFTER his dedication and baptism and remain in good standing.

I forget the scripture ( I havent read the Bible since I left the JW's) that the Dubs always quoted to show that tattoos were unchristian.

If your JW buddy had a tattoo, he was either a fade-away, never baptized, or hid it from other JW's.

Lev. 19:28 is the tattoo scripture: "And you must not make cuts in your flesh for a deceased soul, and you must not put tattoo marking upon yourselves. I am Jehovah."

Tattoos are so grossssss. I have to agree with Jehovah on that one.

A pierced ear is not so bad, but I think the others are correct that it would be frowned upon for sure. "Wordly guys have pierced ears..." would be their feeling on it. How bad do you want to do it?

The idea of just not wearing the earing to the KH was a good idea. Who's going to see the tiny hole in your ear lobe unless they are nibbling on your ear? ;)

Um, you might find a few people here disagree with that. My tattoo is coooooool. My husband says it's Hot.

And yes its okay to get your ear pierced. I have...5 times...three on the right and twice on the left. There is an elder in our congregation who has a nose ring...his wife links a chain on the end and drags him around the house...thats way too kinky for me...but hey...each to their own I say.

Actually, "New Light" has dictated that is it now acceptable, and even encouraged for the brothers and sisters to wear fig leafs or nothing at all to the weekly meetings.

The explanation given was that as the Organization moves ever forward in clearer understanding, we must strive to reach back to the level of perfection first granted to Adam and Eve, and set the example for the naive people of the world.

Reborn...the fig leaf option is still being trialed in New Guinea as far as I am aware. This is going to become compulsory internationally apparently.

And the completely nekkid choice will only be optional...the societies reasoning is that you can at least IRON clothing!
