    Hi Kent,

the Watchtower Observer is some kind of an institution - being one of the oldest Ex-JW sites online - which is also worth some consideration - kent

Some consideration! It's worth A LOT of consideration - as the above posters have brought out. Differences aside, your sight has been invaluable for thousands of people. I'm sure only a handful of people have a clue as to what you actually have done to keep it up & operating as successful as it is.

I remember a new xjw one time saying that her CO had made the following comment: "Kent Steinhaug has done more harm to Jehovah's Witnesses than Crisis of Conscience." Of course, he WAS a loyal Jehovah's Witness. You got rather irritated about that - and I wondered why at the time. What a lovely comment about your site!

It might be a strange feeling to sit there in the evening with your lovely wife......with nothing to do (perhaps). What EVER will you talk about......"before I die." Lol!

    Best wishes - waiting

    Hi Kent,

I have come to the conclusion as the years passed between the early 1990's and now that your site is keeping 'em honest. Pull it down, Kent, and the organization moves closer to returning to its own vomit (in reference to its decision in 1990 to join the United Nations, and its recent resignation as United Nations NGO member to quell the massive publicity and embarassment from your site).

Nobody can deny that your site was pivotal in shining a light onto the Governing Body's furtive and secretive act of joining the Watchtower Society in NGO membership to the United Nations. You were right in exposing this hypocrisy and "the empty things people do in the dark." In exposing them you proceeded to "show them that they are wrong." This shameful sin against God that was orchestrated by the overseers of Jehovah's Witnesses, and your public exposure thereof, again demonstrates that "when the light shines on something, it can be seen." (Compare Ephesians 5:11-16.)

Your site has proven itself to be a lighthouse for Jehovah's Witnesses, and "anything that shows up wrong ways is light." Because your site exposed the deceit that few were aware was occurring right under their noses, many at least temporarily stopped attending the Kingdom Hall. They were empowered to separate themselves from the gross misconduct of the present Governing Body who are responsible for joining the United Nations which is an organization the Watchtower Society's literature condemns.

Many also realized that not only did the Watchtower secretively and hypocritically join an organization it claimed would play a key role during Armageddon, but that the very interpretation itself was questionable.

Other sites will no doubt take the septor and dance on hot coals like you faithfully did for over a decade, but you will always have the distinction of being the grandaddy of 'em all, the first to strike back against the Empire.

Tragically you lost your faith in Jehovah God in the process. I have come to understand what force has been responsible behind sowing the mean-spirited ridicule that shipwrecked your faith and that of Norm, Jan and other Norwegian ex-Witnesses. The result is that your knowing the real Truth is delayed, postponed until your death, after which the veil will be lifted. You will literally see at the moment of your death, in crystal clarity, what my faith only allows me to imagine through the rose coloured glasses of human reference. That is my witness to you, and I hope you remember me when these words come true for you.

Perhaps the solution is to take long vacations each year, returning refreshed for more good fights to expose more truths until they finally come clean. Remember that to many JWs you are practically a folk hero or legend only whispered in hushed circles. If I'm ever traveling in Norway, perhaps I'll look you up and we can go to a pub for some great Norwegian beer. You may never know it's me, but then again you might suspect it...

    G'day Kent,

As you may know, I've never participated in any of the past wars,........... although I've certainly had my opinions! I didn't register on the new forum simply because I didn't want to make it seem as though somehow I wanted to be involved in any animosity. OK, that probably doesn't make sense! (But I mean well!!!!)

Nevertheless, I would be very saddened by the loss of the WO site which, I believe, is one of, if not THE, most significant sources of WTS information.

I've never doubted your sincerity in wishing to expose the borg for what it really is, even though the methods are not always my "cup of tea", so to speak.

I can well understand that with the tremendous input (150% or more) that you give, the old human body can get exhausted, not to mention your forbearing wife getting a little tired of it.

My reason for posting is to simply say Thank You. I hope we can meet up some day and talk 'properly', instead of in cyber-space.

    Cheers and Yachy Da,

    Ozzie

I've learned so much from your board and your hard work! There are thousands of us that would not be where we are because of it, as well as your wife's unending patience. Personally, I cannot tell you "thank you" enough! Up until I started surfing last spring, there was always a possibility in the back of my mind that I'd go back to the WTS. I missed my family desperately! Your site was one of the first I discovered. After reading countless essays and articles you think I'd have given up. Nope. Couldn't get enough. I was hungry for every piece of anti-WTS information I could get. Over this past year, through your site and Simon's, I've realized I will NEVER go back - no matter how much I miss my family. I owe you more than I could ever repay. Thank you!

I wish you and your wife the very best!

    *toasting*

    Love,

    Andi
