an EX-JW?? What the heck is he defending them for? I'm confused.
waving hands.....
I have been partaking for almost 15 years. A couple of those were at the Kingdom Hall, but because of my age (early thirties) short length of time being a Witness (only 15 years when I started partaking), I got so much flak from my 'loving brothers' I began partaking at home. I always thought that several thousand people observing the memorial together was ridiculous anyway, it is not comfortable for me.
Paul made it very clear. all Christians can avail themselves of heavenly promise. Jesus made it very clear...all Christians can avail themselves of teh heavenly hope.
And Watchtower made it very clear...all Christians can avail themselves of the heavenly hope. In the beginning when it was convenient for them.
You have to understand that the heavenly hope has been around for many centuries, and of course Watchtower is the one who came along and established the infernal two-class system.
When Jesus made the statement that "He who will not forsake mother, father, brother, sister, is not worthy of me" there is a growing concensus (and it is not new) that Jesus was referring to those who did not wish to part from their fleshly non-believing relatives. It is clear in this statement that there is a CHOICE for the heavenly hope or no.
Watchtower admits that many of their converts come from backgrounds where everyone has a heavenly hope, and these people wish to hang onto that hope. Watchtower snatches that hope away from them before they even fully convert.
I agree totally not just with Aguest but with many others on this board: the heavenly hope is there for ANYONE in an approved relationship with God. The earthly hope that Jesus referred to, and that the Hebrews held for thousands of years, is there for those that want THAT.
Our understanding of things may change over the years regarding either or neither hope. That is not what is importnat. It is the life we lead, and I have met many earthies, heavenlies, and atheists/pantheists/agnostics who lead good lives and the world is a better place with them in it.
Hope that helps.
I'm not Fred Hall you know.
Dung ?
Are you still holding out for that hope? Or do you still partake just to stir the con?
As I understand it, it goes like this,
"It is impossible as regards those who have once for all been enlightened, and who have tasted the heavenly free gift, and who have become partakers of holy spirit, and who have tasted the fine word of God and powers of the coming system of things, but who have fallen away to revive them again to repentance, because they impale the Son of God afresh for themselves and expose him to public shame. " Hebrews 6:4-6
"for there are many invited, but few chosen. ." Matthew 22:14
If they fail to live up to, to accept their invitation, then they reject their Father.
This is what I have been taught from ones of the hope. They must endure in loyalty until their death.
That they may stand on Mount Zion and be counted as one of 144,000. Revelation 14:1
That they learn the song., that only they can Master, Revelation 14: 3
This is the song of loyalty, the Song Of the Bride.

You know, no one ever could explain this to me. I was told you just "know" if you are annointed or not at baptisim.
When I was 9 I told my parents I thought I was annointed. Hahaha! I said I didn't think I would like living in a paradise so I thought I was probably going to heaven then. They laughed at me and told me I was too young.'
Being I never got baptized I could be annointed! And not even know it! In fact, maybe it's my fault!!?? Maybe the great tribulation can't happen until I get my annointed wings...or whatever...holy crap, get me to a kingdom hall boys!
I've always wondered but they would do if a visitor partook. I mean would they kick me out if I slammed that glass of wine as it came to me.
(of coarse I have heard that its not very tasty but I still wonder what the consequences would be)
Anybody know of anything like that happening...and what the elders did about it?

Believe it or not, I have a buddy who does the same thing. He doesn't believe in any religion, but when that day comes along, he still believes it is special and holy, and partakes, although I don't particularly get it....

Spice I think all they would do is look surprised and go refill the glass. They don't want confrontations in the hall. Much better to be offended behind their backs.
I do know that elders at my old hall were very suspicious about the two annointed who attended there. Never came out and said they weren't, but by their manner and looks you could tell they didn't believe these people.
