XBEHERE: Social pressure from other members is the true cornerstone of this religion.

This is so true. Obviously all of us here know it, but clearly people outside of the religion do not. I'm not convinced the average R&F JW is consciously aware of it either even though the majority clearly succumb to it.

It's very devious because it gives the WT leadership plausible deniability while simultaneously exerting significant manipulation and control.

    Let's review: It's a cult!

Since it is ultimately a conscience matter, they can't really 'ban' it. But as we all know, they are the masters of making rules out of conscience matters. Of course they want to ban college; if these evil men got wind that high school educated people are leaving or avoiding their nasty little cult they would start banning high school.

I've said this many times. The only thing required to Believe is to Feel. Thinking, acquiring Knowledge and additionally requiring Evidence often leads one to leaving religion and god behind, as another current OP suggests. It certainly leads to leaving this nasty, vile cult behind. And they know it.

It isn't rocket science. Everything that comes into existence fights for its survival, from a human to an ant to an organization. Their survival depends on keeping the rank and file dumb, stupid, un or under-educated and relying on their bias confirming nonsense spewed forth on a regular basis at strictly controlled meetings and in pathetically written articles.

And appealing to Emotions and Feelings.

I don't think they'll ever back off on trash-talking post-secondary education the way they did back in the early-to-mid 90s.

I suspect it came back and bit them on the ass far too much for them to risk it again.

I think bashing higher education is a constant with this religion/cult especially when/if they perceive it to be affecting their membership numbers.

When I was a teenager, higher education was frowned upon. My younger bro and I were planning on heading to College in the early 1980s, despite Mom's attempts at persuading us that we didn't need it because the Big 'A' was so close. That was over 5 years AFTER Armageddon's failure to arrive in 1975.

Depends what you mean by "college" . Around here a lot of senior schools are rebranded as "Sixth Form College's " or "Technical Colleges" and then there are "Academies" . Don't ask me to explain the differences.

What the WTS are passionately against are Universities , for 18 year olds and over , where you usually live on Campus or in a shared flat with other students. There one is subject to the higher learning of "Satan's World".

They know that the young dub who goes in usually is a non believer by the time they come out.
