Time Capsule

Do you ever notice how sometimes the brain acts like a time capsule. How sometimes in the most oddest of events, you will suddenly dig up the weirdest memory. I have this happen from time to time with the Witness memories. I will be sitting there doing something like fishing, martial arts or something completely unrelated and "BOOM!" some memory comes to mind that I had not thought of in forever.

The weird thing about it, is that often later I can not get it out of my mind. Kind of like, now that it has floated to the surface it wants to bounce around for awhile and annoy me.

So any new bobbing memories that popped up on you today?

How about the witness songs? Ever have one of them pop in your head? Once they do- they don't leave easily! :-)

no, thank god. they all sound the same anyway....

"when eyes of blind ones see again, when ears of deaf ones hear again, then too these things you'll re-a-lize, if you keep your eyes on the prize."

    ugh

They stole some of those songs. I am almost positive I have heard some of the background music in other songs, with one sounding a lot like a Holiday song. Old song, new lyrics.

I can remember most of the songs vividly although I can't quite remember their number in the song book.

The most reoccuring memories of dubdom would have to be the faces of people...I can still see the faces of those who were near and dear to me. I often wonder if they are still in or have faded out.

I also remember the atmosphere at assemblies and conventions...the smells...the noises...the faces....the booming echo from the speakers....even the stage settings.

    And....

If you sing "How Pleasant to See brothers, all dwell in unity" -- really fast, it sounds like the end of a Looney Tunes cartoon. deeb-a-deeb-a-deeb, THAT's ALL, FOLKS! (Porky pig)

And (thanks to Thirdson for this one -- it came up at our Apostofest):

If you sing "Marriage is God's Arrangement" to the tune of the "Muppet Show Theme Song", it is freakin' hilarious:

    Muppet show song:

It's time to play the music, it's time to light the lights

It's time to get things started, on the Muppet Show tonight!

Marriage is God's Arrangement (same tune):

Mar-riage is God's arrangement, by him it was designed...

It forms a bond of union, brings bles-sings to mankind!

Ken, Yep, that happens to me all of the time. Very few are Witness related, since I left a long time ago. What vexes me about these memories it that they are usually about some really embarrassing or dumb thing I did. If my mind doesn't quit doing this to me I am going to nutz.

Thanks alot Gopher, now I have the Muppets tune in my head!

Ken, I know what you mean about memories suddenly popping into your mind. I have the same thing with dreams that I dreamt ages ago, even years ago. I will suddenly remember a dream that I had - just a scene, not the whole thing. This has happened for a few years. If anyone has a good explanation I'd be most interested.

Yes Prisca, it comes from eating ice cream before bed time. Your brain cells freeze during your sleep and dreams from long ago sometimes resurface in the thawing out process. A suggestion to share your ice cream with your friends might reduce the symptoms.
