I am frankly tired of hearing the name of Joseph Rutherford taken to task so regularly and with such little respect accorded to it. Not everything that this gigolo of freedom said was incorrect. In fact any sympathetic JW who is viewing this message would be well advised to take the following words of Troubled Joe, very seriously indeed :
"How may a man "seek meekness"? "Meekness" means being teachable and having a desire and willingness to learn. One must diligently seek to learn what is contained in the Word of God. Shall the man thus seeking meekness be guided by what other men say? No; because all men are imperfect and no man's opinion or teaching nor that taught by organizations is right. Only the Word Of God is the true and correct guide. We are not to put our trust in men, but to trust in the Lord; as it is written: "Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of earthling man, in whom there is no help"
So, it seems that God is in, and organizations are out! Note further as the Judge hammers home his thought :
If a man is the friend of God and obeys God, will God guide him in the right way? Yes; and the answer of the Lord makes this sure: "The meek will he guide in judgment, and the meek will he teach his way" If a man desires to be taught and led in the right way and he trusts in the Lord and follows the Lords instructions, he is certain to receive the blessings of the Lord. If he follows the teachings of some religious organization, all of which teachings are based upon tradition, that man is certain to fall into the ditch" ENEMIES, 1937, Joseph Rutherford pp349.350
Now you can understand why the Judge never actually fell into a ditch even when being led by his Spirits.
........ talk is cheap.......... the hypocrite liar rutherford said, the meek he(god) will guide in judgment...........and the meek will he teach his way..................... rutherford was neither meek, nor honest........and as a result he was not guided by god's spirit............ the spirit of haughtiness ruled over his whole life.......... he remained a cult leader till his death............... many of his followers, however.......followed the spirit of god right out of the jw cult.
Yep, there were only 4 people at Da Judge's funeral. His hand-picked successor, NH Knorr wasn't one of them. Neither was Fred Franz. Neither was his wife Mary, nor his son Malcolm.
A.H. Macmillan lamented the fact that only four people attended that funeral, but then again he must have been stupid because HE went!
Interestingly, to help pay his way through school, Rutherford sold encyclopedias from house to house. It was not an easy jobthere were many rebuffs. On one occasion he almost died when he fell into an icy stream while calling on farms. He promised himself that when he became a lawyer, if anyone ever came to his office selling books, he would buy them
Where do you find such quotes? You guys, including Fark, amaze me.
I wonder if I should retire early so I can spend more time researching the old WT publications so I can find and share such timeless bits of wisdom from these men of infamy! NNNAAAAHHHH!!
I think there were a few good things about Da Judge. He didn't suffer fools gladly (kooks in charge after Russell). He appreciated good liquor, nice cars and well built women.
I didn't know only 4 showed up - and no wife or son!!!
Good God, more showed up for Adam Baeurlein's funeral!
