What have you learnt since you left the Borg?

Have you become a better person? Have you worked on traits you didn't like about yourself when you were a witness?

Are there lessons in life you've learnt since?

Has there been a learning curve?

I have learnt to be a more compassionate person. I no longer see things in black and white. I now see in shades of grey.

I've especially become more tolerant of non-Christian religions. I've found their adherants are interested in the same goals in life as I am, so there's no need to view them with distain just because they don't believe in the Christ.

And it's definately been a learning curve. I've seen how intolerant my so-called friends are, and how loving my former "enemies of true faith" are.

I've also learned to be more tolerant. I've learned that people are people. There are good JWs and bad JWs. The same holds true everywhere, and I've learned to choose my friends and associates based on the type of people they are....not on the particular organization they belong to.

I've learned that it is okay to be an intelligent woman with opinions that at times differ from the men in my life.

I've learned that I can explore various avenues of thought without being struck down.

I've learned that following the tenets of men without question is a dangerous thing.

Interesting thoughts Prisca. Prehaps some of your "non-christian" friends don't believe in "thee" Christ that you believe in, but still beleave in "a" Christ!

    Redhorsewomen,

Without going into great dealt, I would like to say, that you and me are riding the same type of horse.

For me, it's a coal black Geman Hanoverian.

Yes, you are so right, people are people. We all need to grant each other the diginity we deserve.

What I liked about your post was, besides being factual, it was right to the point. None of this beating around the bush.

    Thanks,

    DA

    Prisca,

What I am about to say, please don't take negatively.

    You made two statements.

    1. "I have learnt to be a more compassionate person."

    2. "I've especially become nore tolerant of non-christian."

Prisca, I have been an active Jehvoah's Witness for 45xx years.

It's not because I am a Jehovah's Witness that I say to you. I feel that I am a compassionate person and always have been. As far as being tolerant to non-christian. Well, I just wish you knew this Jehovah's Witness.

I am sorry you feel that, just because I am a active Jehovah's Witnes, I am not a compassionate person and do not tolerant non-christians.

    Thanks,

    DA

    DA,

Notice that I said "I have become a more compassionate person"??

"I've especially become nore tolerant of non-christian."

I was talking from my own experience, DA. The way I was brought up to be a JW was not a terribly compassionate way. We were taught to hate "false" religion. Don't your Watchtowers say that, DA?

I was not talking about all JWs, DA. Please don't think everyone is persecuting you because you are a JW, which is another mind-set I've been able to put aside.

Since I left the Borg I have Learned:

    (1) I am not always right (sounds stupid but I was a pioner and somewhat good at rhetoric(sp) so my ego was large becuase at 21 I though I had all the answers.

    (2) How to acutally debate with a person with the goal of finding the most logical answer and not just to 'win'.

    (3) To trust my own feelings about what is 'right'

    (4) To think.

P.S. I hope you guys dont grade on spelling here.

Prisca, psychology is a good tool to find what one is thinking.

Your respond to my post to yours was very good.

I like people who think on their feet.

My post to you was nothing personal. Sorry, for your bad experinece. I wish I could make it up in some way.

As for this persecution item. Well, I have never had it and I will never get it. I know who I am and were I am going. I believe you and the other that posted to you are in the same frame of mind. Keep going girl!

Thanks again for both post, they were very good.

    Your friend,

    DA
