Do you think ppl really listen? Do most ppl really care enough to really hear what another person is saying from the heart? I dont believe that most ppl really listen to what your saying, I think they are listening for a break in the conversation so they can talk. I would like to know your thoughts.

Well, for most of my life I sure didn't listen, and did my best to prevent the other person from even getting a chance to interrupt (dad called it "verbal diarhhea"). Oh well, that was then, this is now.

I have a problem with listening. I just recently realized that I have this problem and am always thinking about what I can say. Isn't that terrible. I'm working on it by putting forth an effort to hear every word the other person is saying and trying to sympathize with their concerns.

I think it depends on the situation and the people. when I was younger, I was always complimented on being a good listener. now that I'm older, I find myself, especially at work where I deal a lot with the public, patiently pretending to listen so that I can go ahead and get on with my work. for instance, yesterday a 82 year lady went on for about 20 minutes to me about stamps and "colored" preachers and I still have no clue as to what her point was. but I did listen. just didn't comprehend.

I have been guilty of "not listening" before.....but I have tried to make an effort to really listen. I do believe that true listening is something that some people have to be trained to do.

And another thing, I don't like the way Windows XP can't run scandisk anymore without rebooting...did you see that program last night about volcanoes...of course you did, wasn't it good? Well it's been nice chatting...see you!

OK..to actually answer your question this time....

I do my best to listen to those that talk to me. I do have the tendency to zone out if I am in the middle of something (like watching a movie or on the computer), if its something that has no relevance to anything (my mother telling me she ran into somebody that I don't even know), or If it is completely negative (no explanation should be needed here).

I don't have as much time as I would like so I choose my conversations to those people that i care about and the things that interest me.

but I did listen. just didn't comprehend.

lol...I do that alot...heh in the above said instances.
