I recieved this email today I thought you might find it interesting.

Dear Bill: I have a question for you. At Book Study last week, the conductor said that Dateline's web site apologized for their show on Jehovah's Witnesses pedophiles because they had learned that the people interviewed on the show were "not who they claimed to be." I tried to find Dateline's web site to see what they said but I was unable to do so. Do you know anything about this? Will appreciate your response. Thanks. I think this is something that need to be exposed.

So I wrote Richard Greenberg with this comment,

    IS THIS TRUE???????

    bill

    He sent the following back,

absolutely not true - no apologies - story stands as is

So I sent her this message along with the liink to Dateline to see for herself if there was an apology to which she responded,

Dear Bill: I reviewed the link you sent me to Dateline but there was nothing there about the show they did on May 28. Was there ever anything on their website following the show indicating there was some question about the people they interviewed? I find it hard to believe there was but I know you will have a definitive answer. Thanks again.

Well I am at a loss, any suggestions on how to give a "definitive" answer?

    You already did!

It's not up to you to defend what clearly was a rumor! The mail from RIchard is as definitive as it gets!

Hi Bill: You gave a definitive answer. Give the person Rich Greenburg's phone number and let them hear it for themselves.

Is it your job to give an answer? If there was such an apology, someone could have saved the page as it was. This is someone repeating the propaganda they have been fed.

bring that elder up on charges, for slander and gossip and lying and causing divisions and causing persons to lose faith in the org. Quick!!! Hurry!!!!

bwahahahaha....nope, they only do that for abuse survivors and rape survivors. Can't be bothered with REAL criminals.

Whoever sent that email needs to be referred to the org book about 'turning' in your fellow JW when they have engaged in misconduct. Hurry!!! Quick!!! Turn that elder in now!!!

How could I EVER have put up with people like this for 30 years and it didn't keel me.

You can't expect rationality from dyed in the wool JW's. What you can expect is urban legend, rumours with no factual basis, theocratic warfare and outright head-in-the-sand credulity. Anything to avoid confronting the unthinkable. If JW's make assertions, the onus is on them to provide proof, not upon you to disprove.

I think someone should call Dateline, and ask them straight out what happened to the apology on their website for the May 28 program.. Tell them that an elder in the JW congregation said that you appologized for the program and it was on their website, but you cannot find the link....

If the person plays their cards right, I have a feeling dateline might even do a follow-up story on the JW's

In fact, I'd be sure to give the elders name, phone number, congregation, etc.. And make sure you sound really ipset that dateline would put something on the air that they found wasn't true, and retracted, but only on their website, which obviously is of sooo little importance to them that you cannot even find the apology.. And then I would ask when they are gonna retract it on Dateline itself?

Wouldn't it be great if Dateline's lawyer called the Elder directly

Don't think it will happen, but it certainly is wishful thinking..

Regardless, I'm sure dateline will come out and state infatically that they stand behind their program, and no retraction has been done.. !!!!

Of course, I'd go one step further then, and ask the elder where he got his information..

And, then I agree with Dung, lying is the tool of Satan, and I would stop the book study immediatly after you find out the truth, and confront the elder!

Oh, I would have fun with this one!!!!!!!! It almost makes me want to start a book study so an elder can lie to me like that :-)

I think the rule is that you can't disprove a negative/something that never happened. It's up to the wt to prove that the apology happened.

This is just another example of how lazy dubs really are. They stake their very lives on this idiotic religion and then won't lift an arm to do any real work to find out about the religion they've sacrificed those lives for.
