Yes, here it is! A little late this weekend, but your poster has been sharing the truth about 'The Troof' with a crowd of eager seekers of truth in the mountains of New South Wales. Addressing the gathering were posters Zaqen, Amos, Ozziepost, Mrs Ozzie and Prisca. What a fine witness was given! And what great company are 'honest hearted ones'! Full of questions about the borg and now well equipped to make the truth known.

So, how about closing the weekend with a poll? We promised one on doctrinal matters this week, so here is this week's question:

Which Witness teaching did you always have doubts about?

    1. The "bowls" of Revelation (fulfilled by convention resolutions, Cedar Point, etc)

    2. Jesus is a created angel.

    3. Beards not allowed.

    4. Only JWs will be saved at Armageddon.

    5. The remnant.

    6. Birthdays not "allowed" for Christians.

    7. Women not allowed to wear trousers (pantsuits, jeans) to meetings.

    8. 1975

    9. "this generation"

    10. any others.

    Have fun.

    Cheers, Ozzie

After reading "Jehovah's Witnesses in the Divine Purpose" back in 1958 or 9, I had doubts about everything which is kinda strange since that book is the official JW apologia. It generated far more questions and created far more doubt than it answered questions or provided a settled sense of confidence.

(I was ahead of the game with realizing that Jesus would have been there for the creation of Eve and thus knew when the sixth creative day ended so would have known when it would be 6,000 years later; I always asked it in a question form to others looking for an answer. I just got other people to thinking.)

    Add:

The change in transplants from 1961 okay, 1967 not okay, and 1980 okay again.

Lack of love in the congregation (John 13:34,35) the identifying mark of "true" Christians.

I've always had a problem with Jesus being a created angel. Even as a kid no one gave a good explaination for that one.

    144,000 being a literal number.

Their narcissistic way of applying all Bible prophecy to themselves was always tough to swallow. I usually either skipped those meetings or spaced-out during the coverage of the material. I attended dozens of KH meetings where I barely heard a word that was said.

Turning in field service time was a clincher for me. The more I thought about that, the more bizarre it became to me.

LOL, Dutchie, that's one that I always questioned too. But, mainly for me, the idea that only baptized and studying JWs were the only ones to be saved. I always found that hard to swallow and arrogant.

    4 & 6

4 = I knew to many really nice people to believe that God will kill them just because they weren't JW's.

6 = That was the straw that broke the camels back for me. I didn't mind not celebrating my birthday for all those years, but when my daughter was born.....how can you tell a mother not to celebrate the day this wonderous magical person came into her life?

Funny one of the scriptures the JW's use to say we are in the last days is 2 Timothy 3:3 where it talks about men having no natural affection anymore..........ironic when you finally realize they are the ones killing the natural affection in families...

For me, it was always the beasts in Daniel and Revelation. I could never get them straight until I was about 30. Even then, it was a stretch. The prophecies were hard to get straight too, because they seemed to flip flop. I would just get it finally, and tell someone, and they would say "no, that changed." Huh?

Also, the idea that no one but witnesses would be saved. I never did swallow that.

Too many more to recount. As others have said, "the shelf became so full, it collapsed on me."

I have always had trouble trying to agree that all those who are not JW's would be destoryed at armeggedon.

I never understood how they could say only 144,000 would go to heaven and that was a literal number when , everything in Rev. was symbolic. It was the only number to be taken for an exact literal number. Well maybe there were more numbers they said were literal , this one just stands out .

I didnt understand about the birthdays since it was ok to celebrate anniversaries.
