I have a question.
The WTS likes to boast about the "Photo Drama" produced from 1912 and shown in 1914 onwards. There is an article again on this subject in the Jan 15, 2001 Watchtower (Yes, I know I am milking that one Watchtower I have for all it's worth!).
A couple of comments and then my question. The article says, "As 1914--the beginning of "the Last days" approached, sincere Bible Students undertook with firm conviction an unprecedented worldwide campaign of education based on the Holy Scriptures." Unfortunately, the sincere Bible Students thought the last days had begun a lot earlier and it wasn't the approach of the "last days" but Armageddon that they were concerned about. They omitted to say that.
Similarly, the production is claimed to have done "a great work in acquainting viewers with God's Word and purposes." Well, "plans" then, not purposes since Russell wrote the Divine Plan of the Ages and these plans would have contained all of Russell's teachings which have all long been abandoned. So much for acquainting viewers with God's purposes, 1874, 1878, 1914/15 and all that.
What I noticed in the photos in the article is that the billboards contain the words "History~Bible~Science". What I'd like to know was what "science" did the photo drama contain? Did it contain the "acrheological" evidence of pyramid inches used by Russell to prop up his 1799, 1874, 1878, 1914 doctrines? Did it contain the history of the Bible with Jerusalem's destruction set at 606 BC because Russell's history didn't contain details of how a year numbering system came about and that the concept of a zero didn't come in to Western society until well into the Christian era from the Arabs?
So what I really want to know, is there a script of the "Photo Drama" preserved? Does anyone know what was covered in the 8 hours it took to show it?
While the "Photo Drama" contains many 'firsts' in its production what all JW's must remember is that the subject matter was all junked. Just as "Studies in the Scriptures" are no longer required reading, the "Photo Drama" wouldn't be worth watching. Which is why it probably does not exist and if it did would not be shown for sheer embarrassment reasons.
