For the safety of other children, I hope this is the monster. His story about scratches on his legs from a toddler's gate seems odd. According to the police, whoever did this horrible thing left plenty of evidence, so it shouldn't be long in figuring out if this is him or not.
If it is - hang him up like a pinata in the town square where little Samantha was from and let the parents and family take turns hitting him with blunt objects until the scum dies.

I live in Southern California, and am orginally from the area that Samantha was kidnapped. I live in the same county where her body was found. Of course, this story is on our local news constantly. Warnings of the killer striking again within 24 hours has had me keep my children indoors. I am certainly no alarmist, but this one was very close to home.
Keeping a level head is difficult. I don't want to hold my children hostage, but at the same time keep them safe. I realize that they are much more likely to be killed in an auto accident, yet I drive with them in the car everyday. I think it is what they go through after they are abducted, and before they are murdered, that frightens parents so. I can't even imagine what the Mother is feeling right now.
I'm agnostic, but if there is a hell, I hope this guy burns for an eternity in it.

If DNA evidence confirms he's guilty, I'd suggest a Roman flogging (historically the most brutal) then burn him at the stake.
There is no reason why America should have compassion on this individual. Absolutely no reason !!!
In this instance, however, this "beast" will get the empathy of the great American judicial system (which is definitely not tooth for tooth).
May peace and grace follow you Samantha wherever you now are...

The Riverside sherrif said they are having another press conference at 6 p.m. and will have more details.
Did anyone hear the 911 call from the guy that found her?
There was a truck still in the area when he came accross her body.
The news was suggesting he came accross her just after they dumpped her and had not left the area yet.
He sounded hysterical on the phone and in a panic to get out of the area.
He is in protective custody.
I feel like i'm hanging on pins and needles till 6:00 tonight.

Yes...I saw it break on this morning's news. The guy who discovered the body and telephoned 911 was soooo freaked out...very jarring for anyone to hear. I too am waiting for the 6pm newsconference.

I feel the same way...I've been following the story since she was kidnapped Monday afternoon. It's hard to believe, that little girl was enjoying the best years of childhood only a few days ago, was taken from her loved ones in one of the most horrific ways and now they've probably caught the beast, all within less than a week. It just shows you how life is so fragile for everyone and can spin on a dime.
