Dear [email protected],
Thanks for taking the time to write to us. We always appreciate feedback from visitors to our site.
We would like to carefully address some of the points you have made:
> One of my friends are a Jehavahs witness and i think he is one of the nicest
> people i have ever known, i even go to thier church forom time to time, and
I am sure your friend is a very nice person. I have many, many very nice
friends from many and various religious backgrounds. What is you point?
We never said that your friend is not nice, so I'm confused why you
point this out. Also, you should be aware that Jehovah's Witnesses (yes,
that is how it is spelled) don't go to "church" they meet at "Kingdom
Hall". They generally very particular about their place of worship not
being called a church. Just a friendly tip so you don't get into trouble
next time you are visiting with your friend.
> everybody there was very polite and kind,
Again, you will get no argument from me on this. I have visited a number
of different religious meetings (besides Kingdom Halls), and on each and
every occasion the people there were both polite and kind. In fact, they
were even cheerful and happy.
> everybody there was very polite and kind, and you people are downing the
> Jehovahs Witnesses for studying the bible,
I am not sure why you think "us people" are "downing" the Witnesses for
anything. Our website simply has collected together various interesting
quotes from the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society. We have not added
any commentary or editorial, therefore it is impossible that "we" are
downing the Witnesses. "We" didn't write anything at our website, rather
the Watchtower Society did.
> Jehovahs Witnesses for studying the bible, well you know what, all the other
> religions dont even take the time to open the bible and when they do, it is
Again, referring to our personal experience with several other Christian
denominations, that is not true. Every different (non-JW) religious
meeting I have ever attended involved people using the bible
extensively. What was your experience in this matter? What religion did
you associate with that "dont even take the time to open the bible"?
Please let me know, I am truly curious.
> religions dont even take the time to open the bible and when they do, it is
> just lies anyways. Jehovahs Witnesses at one time celebrated
Your point here is interesting, you are saying when other religions open
the bible, it is lies. Are you suggesting there are lies in the bible?
Or only certain bibles? Again, please advise, as this is confusing.
> just lies anyways. Jehovahs Witnesses at one time celebrated
> Christmas,Halloween,Thanksgiving, they did all of that stuff. But through
> time and study of the bible they relised that it was wrong to do this, at
> least they are progressing with bible knowledge. Jehovahs Witnesses are not
> perfect, but they do make progression. I think this websight is a discrase
I believe that Charles Russell (founder of the Witnesses) said something
about to "not quibble" about the date (December 25) but rather enjoy the
celebration to the ransomer. So in the case of Christmas, they not only
did it, they criticized others who didn't do it. But I digress.
There are several interesting issues related to past practices of =
Witnesses, including:
(1) If Christ chose them as the most holy organization in 1919 (as
Witnesses claim) then how did he find them "most holy" when they were
still practicing all these things they now find "deadly" and "wordly"?
(2) In come cases, the progress was completely reversed at a later
time (for example see the flip-flop-flip regarding "Superior
Authorities" at http://quotes.jehovahswitnesses.com/superior_authorities.htm ) or "Sodom
& Gomorrah" http://quotes.jehovahswitnesses.com/sodom_gomorrah.htm .
(3) If Witnesses past "sins" can be ignored/forgiven, when why not
other religions, who have made similar progressions?
Now, back to your letter:
> perfect, but they do make progression. I think this websight is a discrase
Do you also believe that the library in your friend's Kingdom Hall is
also a disgrace? After all, it contains the same information. We have
not added to or taken away from the material published by the Watchtower
Bible and Tract Society. It is entirely their words, not ours.
> and picks on the words of the Watchtower, you guys like to make a 2nd meaning
> out of every sentence they write.
Since we have not provided meaning or interpretation, it is impossible
for us to provide a second meaning. The words are simply quoted; the
meaning is left to the reader (as the scriptures say, "Let the reader
use discernment"). If you disagree with us on this point, please tell us
where we have done so.
> out of every sentence they write. I think it is wrong, why dont you write
> some good things down about the witnesses.
Again, your statement presumes that we have written "bad things" about
the Witnesses, which is incorrect. Rather, we simply have quoted the
Watchtower Society. You can read more about the Watchtower Society at
their official home page: www.watchtower.org .

Am I the only person that thinks this person is more closely involved with the JWs than simply "a close friend is a witness"????
