    This evening my daughter said: "being in this religion is like being in a gang. You may join and never understand what's really required and if you ever want to get out, you can't. You belong to them...."

    Yes, like Nikita in "la femme Nikita", what was the opening statement she made? Something like "If I don't play by their rules, I die."

    Just like the jw's!

    Last time I checked, your average gang didn't have a Governing Body and didn't have Blood Policies.

    Other than that, the analogy is sound one.

    The BLOODS have a council and if you don't listen to them, they killya.

    Minimus;

    At least gangs will take care of their own children, They might kill some others with a stray bullet now and then but it's purely not intentional.(sarcasm) The WT intentionally kills with their blood policy and molestation cover-ups.

    ps: Your in the announcements category, not seen as mush here.

    I'd like to think of Jehovah's Witnesses as a private club where everyone is required to wear a jacket clearly idenitfying their status to each of the prospective members. For instance, an elder wears a jacket with the letter "E" on it (for Elder), Pioneers are required to wear jackets with the letter "P" on it (for Pioneer), and so on and so forth. Likewise, disfellowshipped people, and JW's who are "marked" (oh, the irony) are provided jackets as well. Unfortunately, they are removed from the club for an indefinite period of time, and are required to wear their jackets wherever they go, as a reminder of their "lowered" status. As for rank, to move up in the ranks, you can only be recommended by another person at that level, as is the case in some private resorts. So if you're an unbaptized publisher, the only way you can be baptized is if you get the approval from a "higher" class. It's a totally closed, separatist organization where God plays very little of an equation. Think of it, You can only get baptized if the entire elder body approves, essentially, it's not even a dedication between you and God, it's between you and the body of elders. Now, where in the Bible does it state that you have to go through a body of older men to be baptized? You see, it's so much more like a private club than anythign else, everything has a formality, even the public humiliation a member when it's called for. It's a religion that breeds snobbery at the worst level.
