I have to say I love that song,.. makes me think about God. When ever I hear it on the radio I blast it too.

When I was single I went to this ice rink, skated around with this Hot sister listening/skating to this song "Spirit in the Sky" (it was re-done by someone here in England top 10) as usual Brother "super spritual" was ther watching over us all , he tried to get us all (JWs) off the rink whilst this song was playing, dead funny.

I heard that song after I left, and although I was not religious after I left, I loved that song. also the christian group DC Talk covered it as well as the classic goth group Bahaus personally i love the Doctor and the MEdics verison....im just a huge 80's buff. the band also did a cover of "Waterloo" that charted in England...after that no one heard from them ever again
