Hey wolf girl, nice to meet you on here.
We have a lot in common from reading your story....keep in touch and keep the questions coming. You may be new here but it wont take long for you to find your way around and work a lot of the stuff out for yourself. Its a great site for ex jw's and jw's to get together and ask questions but it doesnt always have to be about religion. Im sure you'll agree that after a lifetime of JW's, sometimes its nice to shut off from the whole thing and meet people to talk to about 'normal' stuff....the added benefit on here is that you dont have to explain all the little details that you normally would when explaining stuff to people, everyone on here already understands the way that JW's work and the unwritten stuff that you could never explain.
I look forward to seeing more of you on here. If you get 5 mins, feel free to read my thread (directly underneath yours on here!) and give me some answers to my problem! You never know, it may make you feel better to know that someone else is going through crap at the mo!!!!!!!!!!!
Nice to hear from you anyway. Chin up girlie and keep in touch. XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXx

When I lived in the US, I used to work with all sorts of animals...a volunteer animal education program. I've always loved wolves, and got to work with several. They're so beautiful, they make me feel like crying. Strange, I know.

First Welcome
Second you would not believe how similar our stories are.
Third Yes there is so much information here and in the other links posted that you may need to go slow. It can be a little overwhelming to read so many documented facts that we were never told while we were "in" You will find yourself flooded with a lot of feelings. Most of us here have been through it and are willing to listen as you explore.
And Fourth no one here really likes preaching so don't worry about it. We usually jump on any one who tries it.

Hi Wolfgirl,
I add my "welcome" to you along with the others, and you have my compassion for the the abuse you've endured. (Btw: it makes sense that you "chose" an abusive man to marry; even if your memories were not in the front of your mind, survivors tend to hook up with abusive partners because they feel so "familiar." It takes much time and work (and a competent therapist!) to recover from a lifetime of lies and denial, and to acquire some self-esteem and dignity. I truly hope that the man with whom you are now in love can be supportive of your efforts to heal and get to the other side of this.
What I'm wondering: can you be more specific about what it is you are trying to research? Do you have a particular objective in mind? Are you dealing with doubts within yourself that you should go "back" to the Borg? I remember from my 14 years' of involvement with them hearing constantly that being "among God's chosen people" is the ONLY "safe" place to be... so ironic, isn't it, when your story is one of thousands (millions?) proving that the opposite is true...
I guess I'm wondering what would be of the most help for you right now. Perhaps you yourself do not even know (very understandable!). Whatever it is, you have found the best place for it, of that I'm sure.
Wishing you the best,
lauralisa

What kind of "solid facts" are you after? Proof of JWs failure as a religion? What?
In my opinion, the best place of all is Ray Franz' book, "Crisis of Conscience." End of suggestions. It just doesn't get any better than this. Just the facts presented in a detached, unemotional, straightforward manner. It's like the man is testifying in court.
Hope that works for you. You can find it at Amazon.com.
Best,
francois
