The worst ones are those I find at laundromats, bus terminals, etc. I "place" them all in the trash cans.

Ditto Kennison. I'm always on the lookout for them, so that they can be escorted to their proper place.

I forgot about the menopause mag.

One of the last mags I got in the mail was "Help for Arthritis Sufferers". I'm sure that sometime they're going to have an "Help for Anal-Wart Sufferers" Awake!.

I'm sure some Pedophilia mags are in the works. "We don't tolerate pedophilia. Look, we even put out a magazine about it." (Pats on backs all around at Brooklyn)

I can't think of a "worst" Watchtower, because there are not magazines that memorable. Generally, the ones with endtime themes, or positive social themes wrked better. The once denouncing the Catholic Church or some other pet peeve were the most difficult because it seemed petty.

There were so many bad Watchtowers, can't pick one.

However there was were were placing right before I left entitled "Do You Have A Soul?"

I had the incredible urge to cover the "a" with my finger and offer the magazine as "Do You Have Soul?"

Should have done it!

The one that really sticks in my mind was from the early 70s. There was an article about the heart and the mind. It was when The Society was hell-bent that the physical heart was the seat of emotion, not the brain. There were dramas at the District Assemblies also pushing this theme. They went through their usual tortured reasonings. For example, they took a case of a person who had a heart transplant and VOILA! his personality changed. [Whether that was true or not is subject to much conjecture --- the good old boys in the writing department often take things out of context and print them to prove their points].

For years, the brothers and sisters would still hold on to "the heart being the literal seat of emotion". Somewhere later down the road I believe Brooklyn realized the stupidity of their stance in the 70s and quietly distanced themselves from that theological stance. Maybe some old-timers even today hold on to that warped reasoning.

Anyhow, I just couldn't place the magazine based on that article which I just couldn't accept. So, I featured some other secondary article. In fact, as I recall, I didn't even show the cover of the magazine, instead I had it opened to the other article. Funny, for years I prayed to Jehovah that I could somehow accept the heart/brain teaching. It never happened. Of course as a dutiful JW, I never let on that I thought their reasoning was B.S.

I remember the Watchtower with the Headline "Does the Devil Make Us Sick?". It was one of the first Watchtowers I did not even take to Service but left it at home and threw it away after some time.

I looked it up: 9/1 1999.
