If you won the lottery?

I was just sitting here at work fantasizing what I would do if I won the lottery.

First I would pay off all my bills,

then I would donate to some very worthy causes...(I'm sure you can guess a couple of them)

and then I would travel, travel, travel

and after deciding where I want to live (after all that traveling )

I would have a custom home built....

la la la ---what a nice daydream.....

what would you do if you won?

Spice of the "wanting to be independently wealthy" class

I'd probably be broke after making sure my daughters were cared for after I'm gone and setting up accounts for now and future grandchildren.

If not, then I would also travel a lot more than I have.

Wishful thinking eh with a one in 14million chance, to become independently wealthy I'd rather not rely on chance, but rather my mental faculties and knowledge of great customer service and understanding of their needs.

However, if I won the lottery, what would I do with the money?

Definitely not the big fancy house and the fast car. I'd probaly buy myself either an old farmhouse with land in Cornwall UK or better still, consider buying in Europe somewhere. A place with plenty of outbuildings and workshops to set up my own arts and environmental community project. An old Landrover Defender would be the icing on the cake. A micro-light aircraft for when I was tired of tourists that don't know how to drive, that'd be most useful. Also like to spend on construction of hospitals and schools in developing countries, this would give me personally a great sense of satisfaction. Travel too would feature a lot more, but definitely not your 5* hotel treatment, too boring, no, give me a decent tent and backpack, that'd do for me.

Perhaps I might buy an old electric milkfloat, convert it to solar power, live in the back and organise a race to Australia or New Zealand overland. Or a 2CV6, that'd be cool too.

I love adventure, exploration and innovative energising invention. A community of mad inventers in the environmental field might tickle my tipple too.

What else? A geodesic Hundertwasser home might be on the cards or an earthship.

Keep my tastes simple and not lose sight of myself, that'd be the ultimate goal.

This is one of the best things about buying a lottery ticket. You get three days of fantasy.

Pay Bills (including the mortgage on my house)

Travel: Europe first, then Asia, then the Middle East (j/k)

Then I'd have a house built somewhere on the coast right near the water so I can listen to the Ocean every night as I go to sleep.

I would also see about buying a house in Europe, I can't decide where but somewhere along the Mediteranian (sp).

It would be staffed with professional counselors

That would actually be very helpful, especially for those who have suffered because they

    • Refused to serve in the military
    • Lost a loved one due to "no-blood transfussions" policy
    • Endured abuse due to the "2 witness" rule
    • Were left with emotional scars due to the shunning policy
    • Forfeited higher education (and need to start their life over) due to the "pioneer after high-school" mental drilling
    • Severed ties with "worldly" friends to qualify for baptism

    And others

Great idea Jim, what a kind heart you have! A very commendable thing to do.

I would reward all my family and friends and smite all my enemies... :-)

Actually, I came close to winning $2,500,000 a few weeks ago on the Super7 (piss me off!!!)

    Here were the winning numbers:

    8 13 19 24 30 43 47

    And here were MY numbers:

    8 13 20 25 30 43 47

I won a whopping $142.70..........wow, that did me ALOT of good!!

And here in Canada, you don't pay any tax on your lottery winnings and you are not penalized for taking it in one lump sum either................
