    Hello, Board!

I am grinning this morning, happy to have spent most of the past 18 hours in the company of some WONDERFUL people from this Board and their friends! I was supposed to post a report last night, but somehow a pillow and a comforter seemed a better choice than the desk chair, so I'm posting this in a hurry on my way out to brunch!

I picked up larc from the bus station and since check-in time wasn't until three, we wandered over to a BW3 bar & grill so that I could eat lunch and he (having eaten lunch) could impress me with his NTN Trivia skills! I just knew he'd rather do that than hang at the mall.

Later, when the group met for coffee, I noticed jourles arriving in the parking lot. Rational Witness and wife were already there, lurking in the corner, RW thinking he was unnoticed and merrily watching as introductions were made as obiwan and Hmmm arrived right behind us. But I saw him there -- even if he was pretending to have hair under that baseball cap! We ordered our coffees and introductions were made all around as RW outed himself to the others and my friend Jann and her daughter Tina arrived to make the group complete.

That's all I can tell for now, because otherwise I'll be late for today's activities. Some of us are meeting rosalyn for brunch this morning, where there will be a competition to see whether she or larc wins for the attendee coming from the furthest distance! (larc already won for being oldest -- to my great relief!!!!)

BTW, Zazu -- larc looked great in his new shirt! Next time, I hope you'll come with him.

    More later....

Hey outnfree,I really enjoyed the great time last night with everyone.Larc and I are going to meet here in flint and have a beer and meet some of his friends.let's do this again soon.

Oooooooggga. Well folks, I just woke up after a dizzying night of fun and experiences. I'm so sorry Brenda(outnfree) that I didn't make it this morning for brunch. First off, I forgot to set my alarm, and then, even if I did set it, I do not think I would have heard it go off!! Trying to wake the dead comes to mind. Hmmm, I still owe you for breakfast/lunch/dinner/beers sometime, thanks for getting them last night. We'll hook up again I'm sure.

Rational Witness and his wife were a pleasure to meet. Very down to earth couple. You learn so much more from meeting posters in person than from reading their posts on the board. Don't let Brenda give you a hard time about your hat Rational!

Obiwan is sort of what I expected. I pictured him a little differently though. Cool guy.

Hmmm was one of the rowdy all nighter's. Slamming shot after shot between beers. kidding. Actually, I had the impression that hmmm was nearest to my personality. A little more reserved and not the outspoken type like our hostess.

Larc is what I expected. It's too bad we didn't get to go head to head with some NTN. He says he wouldn't be that good, but I think he was just bluffing. He seems the type that would play one round of NTN and blow it intentionally and then the next round ask you if you would like to play for drinks and then crush you by going 15 for 15 with 900+ pointers each. He's really an old softy aside from his damaging analysis of jdubs in print. It's too bad the Ohio'ers have him down there.

Outnfree's friend, Jan, and her daughter Tina, were also present. Jan is another sweet lady who was a pleasure to meet. Hearing her story about being df'd and the way the elders treated, or should I say, did not treat her, was disheartening.

And last but certainly not least, Outnfree. She was the most different from what I expected to see. As I was in the parking lot waiting to meet up with everyone, I was looking for an anti-JW godless Jezebel to stroll into the coffee shop with horns peeking through her hair and a tail dragging on the ground. You can imagine my horror when she came up behind me in line at the shop and said my name! Wait a minute! That voice does not sound cold or devilish in any way! I spun around, and looking for horns, I didn't see any! Wow, I guess the society was wrong afterall. People who leave the borg and work against Jah's visible org here on earth can still be really nice. Kidding aside, Brenda was probably my most favorite person to have met. She is not at all what I expected. She is just your typical mom looking out for her kids and others' welfare. She is a very sweet person and has a hidden wild side I'm guessing. What would you expect if you are a teenager and your mom likes to listen to Eminem!?! That just blew me away when she said that.

All in all, I would have to say that everyone who came last night, I would surely like to meet again. There was not one person who struck me as being a hateful, bitter exJW. Everyone was too nice and I would have to say that I would pick this group of people to hang out with over a group from my hall. It was great to be able to speak freely about the org and its faults knowing that everyone else felt the same way. AND knowing that you are not going to get pinched for saying such things! I am looking forward to the next fest. Rational's idea of an aussie style BBQ would be great. I'll even load up my Weber grill into the back of my truck, along with a keg or two for that one.

I'm bummed that I couldn't make it. :( I forgot about an interview/show we had to cover for our website last night and it just wasn't possible to do both. Unfortunately the show was a big disappointment, although the interview with the band was great, so I guess it was a wash. Hope that I can make the next one! :D

    Cheers,

    Hmmm

I must admit that when I was driving up, I was a little nervous. Would I be the outsider? Would people be able to tell that this was my first time? Or would this perhaps open up a whole new world to me? I know it sounds strange, but as a non-coffee drinker, that was my first time stepping foot in a Starbuck's!

A good time was had by all. It was great to put faces to names, and meet others in the area who have all lived the JW experience.

I'm in the process of trying to get some photos up.

Obiwan, Hmmm, Larc, outnfree, RationalWitness, Jann, Jourles, Tina

Just remember: The camera adds 10 lbs... and Chili's added another 5-10

    Hmmm

P.S. I am happy to report that I overcame the temptation and peer pressure. I still don't drink coffee.

LOL, Hmmm! Obviously you didn't notice that I was drinking a Vanilla Creme at Starbucks! Arachnia, we waited until 6:30 as stated in the e-mail just hoping you'd show up. I don't know what happened to Rev Doc Bob and his friends, either. Maybe next time!

Yes, the group of us had a nice time at Chili's and then four of us risked torrential downpours to take the party on to a little bistro nearby where we could chat and taste a variety of -- I would say awful -- beers. If pics ever go up from this place, the wrinkled state of my blouse is a direct result of the soaking we got from the parking lot to the bar. (And, Jourles, I keep telling you that having a Mom who actually KNOWS Eminem lyrics is NOT cool. I am only allowed to listen if there are any friends around at all. Also, I am not allowed to dance in the car. Only tapping hands rhythmically on the steering wheel is permitted.)

On Sunday morning JOURLES was conspicuous by his absence, but that's okay, because I was late, having not followed the directions I sent him and knew by heart myself!!!! Poor rosalyn waited quite some time inside for us to arrive. I had been distracted by conversation and blew right past my turnoff!

Once we did get together, though, it was another enjoyable time learning more about the state of ex-JW-dom in Ontario and devouring a delicious variety of exotic breakfast creations. NOBODY had eggs! And Jann brought her other lovely daughter, Nicole, with her this time!

When larc & l left the area to take him up to his new temporary digs in Flint, he took me on a cultural tour of a cemetary. I hope he took obiwan, too. The bronze sculptures there are a national treasure. No kidding. I am going to research the scupltor to see where else I can find his work! Thanks, larc!.

Then, when I arrived home the power was out and didn't come back on until some time last night.

I, too, am looking forward to seeing all of the attendees again. SOON! Now I've gotta run, because my daughter's getting her wisdom teeth pulled this morning. Oh, joy!

    Kisses,

    Brenda

Well...slap my ass and call me Sally! I knew I was bummed about not being able to make it up there for the apostofest, but now I'm REALLY perturbed! It looks and sounds as though you all had a wonderful time! And geez, Brenda, why didn't you tell me there'd be so many goodlooking men there??!!! A little extra motivation and I may well have figured out a way to join you all!

Jourles, I agree with you totally that Brenda is a real sweetheart. I've had the pleasure of meeting her twice now and a kinder, more caring person would be difficult to find.

I believe this is the first time I've seen pics of Obiwan and Hmmm and all I can say is: daaayyummm! You guys are cuties! Larc doesn't look like what I expected, not that I had a real image in mind, but you know how you just seem to form these mental pictures of people? Well, he's even more refined and intelligent looking and hey, love the beard! And RW...kind of the tall dark brooding type? LOL

I wish too that I could meet Jann. Brenda, please tell her hello from me and it WILL happen...one day. I think we'd have a lot to talk about. But hey, at least you didn't have to clean your house after all!

Thanks for sharing the pics and the fun....

    Dana

P.S. Wrinkled blouse from the RAIN?! Suuuurrreeeeee Brenda suuuurrreee

    Hmmm

Outnfree led us on a high-speed chase through a Diluvian downpour, through red lights and over curbs on the way to the Place Of Adult Beverages. Jourles actually had to smash through a fruit stand to stay on her tail--it was like The French Connection! We followed a circuitous route through winding side streets, and I swear we passed Englishman tending to his garden (who mumbled something about "car groups" and turned his hose on us).

She later regaled us with her stories of being followed by the elders, and it was obvious that she had much experience in evasive maneuvers.

At the bar, I (lightweight that I am) nursed my libation while Larc and Jourles debated the finer points of microbrewing by sampling everything on the menu.

I have to echo Dana's words....the part about being perturbed that is...not the slapping and calling me Sally part

Hey outnfree! Dana and I talked about trying to make it to your gathering, but just couldn't swing it this time.

As for outnfree's driving skills....wow Hmmmm LOL...it must have been Starbuck's coffee!!

Great pics of all of you!!!! I would have loved meeting all of you...you're a great looking bunch. As for RW and his wife...already met them but don't remember him being so um..dark

I sure hope to make it there sometime. Thanks for sharing your fun times with us.
