Do You Have A Personal Mission?

I do. It's quite simple really. My personal mission is this:

To demonstrate to leavers that it is perfectly possible for an ex-witness, Df'd, Da'd, whatever, to live a full and happy life away from the WTBTS.

To enjoy the company of friends. To have a satisfying and loving relationship with another special person, irrespective of whether or not that person is of the opposite sex. To have a sense of morality that comes from within, rather than an imprinted list of someone elses rules and regulations. To choose whether or not if WE want to speak with JW's should we meet them in a social situation.

To not feel hassled of the God thing, but be content to allow this one to mull over until such time as it becomes clearer.

To be able to enjoy material pleasures, sport, hobbies, vacations, keeping fit, whatever.

In short that it is perfectly possible to have a richer, more honourable and more varied life away from witness restraints. That it is far better to be out than in.

My mission is to have a "CARE BEAR" attitude. On this side of the pond, Englishman, Care Bears is a childrens' cartoon who have a loving attitude towards each other. Mind you Shrieky comes into play sometimes and I think that is necessary sometimes.

So enough with the cartoon comparisons.

One of my goals is to be less judgemental and attempting to look at all facets of a situation before shooting my mouth off. There are so many gray areas in this world but what an abundance of colour in that gray. It feels good not view everything in black and white anymore. I want to like someone because of my own values and if I chose to dislike someone it will be on my terms, not because it's been dictated by someone in Brooklyn.

And I love the feeling of loving and caring for my grown children even if they do something I consider "wrong". You have to let them grow and make their own mistakes.Stand beside them as they make bad calls. Pat their backs, give them a hug even when they have goofed up.And sometimes a "cuff up side the head" doesn't do them any harm either. But to disown them? No I don't think so.

And while I have your attention Englishman..... I do plan on actually buying a Harvey Andrews CD in the not too distant future.. I don't make a habit of copying things but I was desperate for something of his to listen to. So your mission here is to advise me which one you think is the best. I have 25 Years on the Road (pirated copy)and don't tell me that should be the one I should purchase to clear my conscience. My conscience is clear. Waiting to read your post. I so enjoyed your barbecue pictures.

Ditto E-Man: Oddly enough, a number of months ago, when I said something of a personal mission, I became the center of ridecule and scorn by some. I think in a way, deep down, we all have a sense of 'mission' or some 'goals' when we participate in ex-JW forums ... many for the same reasons you gave, and for several other good reasons ... thanks for sayingt his again, and saying it so nicely.

Well now, Englebum, does all this mean that you've thrown away your Petro-pump costume that you used to don when you had a party to attend? Just curious, that's all!

    Rosalyn,

Yup we get care bears here too.

Re Harvey Andrews: seen him sing once, it was an outstanding session. His most famous song was, of course, Hey Sandy.

I particularly enjoy his "Spring Again " album, with it's cheerful opening song of "House in the hills" to it's melancholy "One machine" later on in. I've also got his older "Someday fantasy", but it isn't as good IMO.

    Regards,

    Englishman.

    Ahh, freedom!!!!

How often Mrs Ozzie and I have said that word!

Are we on a mission? You betcha.

A mission that's much like yours, Eman. Only by our lives are we able to show those still bound by the Borg that IT IS possible to live a full life away from the Borg, that IT IS possible to leave the Borg and be a Christian.

We're also on a mission, if you like to put it that way, to rescue our children from bondage.

In short, we all can play a part.

    Cheers, Ozzie

    Hello Yadirf, me ole opponent!

Who are you a-routin' for today, JW's or the US postal service?

    Down to biz! Yadirf says:

.OK, now this is for an invite to me next barbie. Do you know what Yadirf is talking about (I do), and if so, does this provide definite proof that I am not qualified to talking about morality?

    Englishman a muddyin' the waters.....
