Let me do a little research

Translation: "Let me look things up on my WT CD and then I'll cut and paste them and claim I did research"

ROFL - you are so on form today, SYN

The scripture used to support the cessationist doctrine is usually 1 Cor.13.

The funny thing is that even if you were to take that stance, it doesn't mention healing as being done away with, in those verses.

    Bleep:
Have you taken a research class yet? So far you have exhibited no such skills, unless you think a Wt.Library word search, and a cut-n-paste counts.
This I have got to watch, as I think you are going to walked over by the thread owner...

Just to add to Little Toe's answer, the JWs believe that the gifts of tongues, healing etc were "done away with" when the apostles died. They believe the apostles were given these powers to help prove to the people of the time that they really were from God, but once the apostles died, these powers died with them.

Well Tion, perhaps you are not aware of the great cornucopia of HEALING WISDOM Jehovah has provided to the Jehovah's Witnesses!

I will share some of their outstanding medical advice in the link below, and you can see for yourself that the JWs really do believe in healing!

(As long as particles 6,7, & 8 of blood are not involved, LOL!)

Sorry, Crazy, I was typing my response at the same time as you. Funny how great minds think alike, huh?

    Tiondaj:
I hope you like a little pressure. We are all looking, with interest, at how you are going to respond to Bleeps's WTS objections.
Meanwhile, could we ask that you don't use CAPS, as these are hard to read

we cannot expect to find legislation in the Bible on transplanting human organs

I can just imagine them looking though. LOL

These are classic quotes about jw thinking. I took particular note of this bit.

Therefore, if a Christian discovers that blood components are listed on the label of a container of dog food or some other animal food, he could not conscientiously feed that product to any animal over which he has jurisdiction. He could not conclude that doing so would be excusable, for this would not be a case of an animal killing another animal and helping itself to the blood of that creature. No, this would be a direct act on the part of the Christian, making him responsible for feeding blood to a pet or other animal belonging to him...

    Amazing.

They claim that healing died with the Apostles because the bible says that where there are tongues, healing etc... they will cease-- when perfection comes. They then make the giant leap that 'the perfection' being spoken of is the Bible so once the Bible is here then God wouldn't need the miracles to testify to himself. Of course they ignore everything about the disciples being instructed to teach everyone everything they had been commanded-which includes healing- which clearly indicates that healing is to be 'passed on' so to speak or at least the instruction on the spiritual Gifts that the Holy Spirit gives at his will.

Hello and welcome to the forum--

I don't get on here as much as I used to because I am working with several email support groups for ex-jws and don't get much time.

I too am a chirstian but also an ex-jw. Please feel free to email me to chat or ask questions.
