My name is Jesika and I was raised one of Jehovah's Witnesses. I was what they call disfellowshipped or shunned by the tender age of 15. I haven't spoken to anyone on my dad's side of the family other than my dad for over 11yrs. They refuse to have anything to do with me because of their religion. I gave birth to the first great grand child and my grandmother has only seen him when he was in the hospital. My son was in Children's hospital within 2 days of being born and NOONE on my fathers side came to the hospital. My son had a 50-50 chance of surviving the surgery, and noone came or even called me-- I had just turned 18 and newly married. I was escorted out of the church when I went to my cousin's wedding, and wasn't invited,again, to my other cousin's wedding. This religion tears families apart, and when my uncle molested me when I was 4 they didn't throw him out, and when my father had an affair with another married women in the same church my parents were attending, they didn't throw him out either. This is a terrible thing to do to someone, and they leave it up to the men in the church to decide if you are truely sorry for what you have done. If they think you are sorry (anyone can produce tears) then you get a slap on the hand and told don't do it anymore. If they think you aren't "repentent" than they take your whole life away,including your family.

Even though I can't stand Dr. Phil, I think reaching his audience is a very good thing. Just think, all the members of the "Oprah Class" will see for themselves . They might think twice before opening the door to hear the zealous proclaiming from people who mistreat thier own family. One more weapon in the theocratic arsenal never hurts either. Thanks for posting all that and writing Jesika. So much grief in so few sentences....

I have only seen Dr. Phil once but I don't care who you write. I think writing your experiences and feelings are good for you. You have something to say too.

As to those buggers 'excorting' you out of your cousins wedding, that was just plan wrong even by the twisted WT standards, unless the wedding was in the home of a JW.

You seem to be recovering from such harsh treatment dealt a young child. Hope you seperate God from the ungodly treatment you recieved.

At the age of 15 what could they POSSIBLY expect to teach you through shunning. how incredibly stupid.

You should have recieved guidence counsling from a trained professional and at the age of 15 the elders should have CLEARLY recognized the need for family counsling with trained professionals.

This kind of thin make my blood pressure go up.

2laws------ I was escorted out of the KH!!!! At my cousin's request!!!!! The ones that escorted me out were the same guys I had know since I was about 4 or 5. I wish you all could have seen it, I was wearing skin tight jeans, white tank top,snake arm bracelet,and white combat boots!!!!!!!! I smelled like wine and refused to move the car when everyone was starting to leave. I rode with my mom and sister and since there were soooooooo many cars,kinda like the parking done for the memorial, I was sitting on the trunk of the car and they asked me to move the car. I told them they haven't done shit for me so I wasn't doing shit for them. Oh the look on their faces!!!!!!! How dare I refuse and talk to them that way (being female and all). I went just to piss my cousin off and to crash his wedding since I wasn't invited.

I'm so sorry that you've had to go through what so many of us has had to go through. My mother didn't have anything to do with me for 13 years! I was completely cut off from my family also. It really took it's tow on me too. I suffer from bi-polar and the *low* times make it almost unbearable, but I'm still hanging in there........I hope you do the same darlin.
