Ever lie on your service reports?

I never did (I thought it was a mortal sin). Though when my husband was a regular pioneer he got 90 hours the last two months sitting on the couch watching TV. Then he made his grand, highly visible exit as soon as he returned from Pioneer School, exclaiming, "It's all a pile of crap!"

What bravery - too bad I was still a dub at the time and completely freaked out.

When I was a naive child, and wholeheartedly believed I was a member of The Truth? I did not lie.

When I got older and saw the hypocricy and secrecy so abundant in the organization? All the time.

I made it big lies too. I would NEVER go out with the service group, I would attribute my hours to informal witnessing or street work... although NO ONE EVER saw me do EITHER.

    Reborn's time slip reported for the month? = 55 - 70 hours

Actual time in field service? = 0

Do you people mean to tell us that you've ( GASP) cheated on your time reports?

Don't you know that you can't fool the FDS?

Don't you realize that you're messing with the WTS end of the year reports?

    Well... I never.....

    I guess I cheated too!!!!!!!!

Can we clasify that as spiritual warfare?

Well, I was a true believer, but once I realized how theocractic the wtbts was, I used "theocractic warfare". <big ear to ear grin>

Joy, LMAO@ theo warfare strategy!! oh man, good one!!

zenpunk, I've been enjoying your posts lately! I loved how hard your hubby worked to get those 'pioneer hours' in!

reborn, LMAO also, esp at the large 0!

"as for me and my household"...I turn in a modestly exaggerated report, showing an hour or two for the wife and kid even though they may not have been out in service in a given month....it's all done to keep the hounds off the trail. Creative Acounting 101.

I tried to come as close as possible when I was very young, but when I started "pioneering" I was 14 and in school. So I said most of my time was counted from preaching in school (ya right).

I lied about almost everything on the reports, mag placement, books, return visits (call backs now I think),etc.

I didn't know so many people did the same thing!!!!!!!! LMAO

Hell Yeah! Maybe an hour or two a month, but those hours add up over 20 years. I always reasoned that I spoke to folks on the job and never counted it. Street work was a joke, we did the 'pioneer shuffle.' And I always rounded up the hours to the highest number. 8 = 10; 17=20; 27=30; 54=60, etc. Hey Jah knew my heart :)

    LL :)

PS - When I was reaching out and the CO was coming to town I kinda inflated the hours a bit ;) Funny thing is I always felt justified :)

Do you think the WTS are bothered?

They would approve! They could never say such.....but they would love it if there were more hours, publishers etc. recorded.

I will confess to "rounding up" a partial hour (more than 30 minutes) to a complete hour on occasions. I am sure no one else ever did this, so I will probably be singled out for divine retribution at some point. ; )

One of my pioneer partners (as far as I know still serving as an elder in So Cal) who started pioneering with me out of high school used some creative methods to get his time started. While he would wait for me to emerge from my apartment for early morning street witnessing he would flash the magazines at any passing car to "jump start" his time. Lots of other creative ways to keep counting time during breaks too.LOL

Keeping track of time spent always dampened any "joy" I experienced as a pioneer or pub in my JW career.

    All best,

    Mak
