As kids we had:
cats, snakes, turtles, rats, crayfish, a chipmunk, a courtney quail (stupid bird), dogs, almost got a pet skunk...
I adore cats, even though I'm slightly allergic to them--I've got two right now.
I'd kind of like to get a small goat. I've got a big backyard that needs to be eaten.
Scooter...how are the young instigators doing? I would love to have some pics of them in the garden...
I almost forgot this one...Sinnamon. She's the be all and end all cat...as far as she knows anyway..

Laughing my monkey tail off... My name, in part comes from the fact that when I was a kid, I loved monkeys... I begged & pleaded w/ my parents to get me one, but the legal/ethical considerations won. Probably for the best!
I've never been one to have lots of animals around, but I do love animals of all types. When I was a kid, I had 2 ferrets... After I left the dubs, I got my first ever personal dog (Tequila) from the pound... She was about 6 months old at the time, VERY skinny, and sick... she had mange, missed hair all over one side of her face & shoulder... The SPCA ppl told me I probably shouldn't take her; they thought she was going to die in the next week or so. But as I held her in my arms, she just started licking & licking me, looking up w/ the proverbial puppy dog eyes... And I said, "Die? Not on my watch!" W/in about 2 days, she was frolicking like there was an eternity of tomorrows... Such a sweet dog; all she needed was love. Over the 8 years I had her, I can't count the number of ppl that said she was the happiest, friendliest dog they'd ever met... sigh

Hey lyinEyes....I don't know how I missed this post...My wife and I have two dogs and two birds. Shocker is going on 10 he is a cross between a full blooded champion bird dog and a golden retriever,,,he was the only puppy and my wife had no idea Fancy (Shockers mother) was pregnant...thus the name Shocker...we have a 3 year old miniature Pom named LittleBit. Our two birds were rescued from an apartment whose occupents were evicted from and left those birds behind. My wife was in the right place at the nick of time. They had been in the house without food and water and electricity for 3 weeks! She climbed in through a window and got them out. We named them Smokey (a female Cockateil) and Rascal (a Green Checked Conure). We love all our animals and everyone elses too....LOL!!! This is a Great Post....Thanks.

I love, love, love animals! I think it's the only thing about giving up the paradise dream that I'm still upset about.
I was a city kid growing up in the Bronx, the only highlight of my life was that my mom took me to the Bronx zoo almost every weekend. I lived in apartments that didn't allow pets most of my life. Five years ago I finaly got to fulfill my lifelong dream of having my own dog. I got an adorable bishon frise, I named Beau. He was only eight months old when my daughter died, and with all the trauma, I couldn't housetrain him, so I got totally overwhelmed one day and gave him up for adoption...OH I REGRET THAT!!
Well, Makena has promised to get me a new bishon puppy for our anniversary this year (Sept.), I can't wait.
I love animals! I have 2 labs - a black and a chocolate.
