I just wanted to say that I enjoyed the info in this thread. I agree that to leave a cult such as the JW's one must drift away much like a boat from shore as opposed to sinking. Also it is important to make friends outside and get involved in things outside of the org. This way the org. does not have the intimdation over you. You must do this slowly and use reasons that do not throw up red flags ( such as attending another church, running for political office, etc.). The best excuse is materialism such as having to work to much, health etc. I always ask leading questions when approached and never respond to there questions with answers that will be suggestive of an attitude that will give them cause for action. My wife once got mad and said that I was scared to express myself, I just looked at her and said "yes, what does that tell you about the spiritual paradise that we are in!" She has never said anything about my position since.
