Not everyone here is guilty of being hostile ALL the time, even though I know I am overly passionate at moments. You see I have a fire inside me because I lost my family due to the JW's, and I suppose that is the main reason why I get so riled up when I find people defending them. It would be different if someone could chalk it up to naivety, but in some cases they allow themselves to be continually deceived, and the practices which go on in some instances are unimaginable.
I read your comments about how horribly you were mistreated and the situation was ill-handled when your wife died. I cannot completely understand or relate, because each circumstance is different, but when I lost my grandfather they did me the same way. He had served as an elder for over 45 years in their congregation, and could be classified as one of the genuine believers who was the rare honest, loving, sympathetic kind. Did they honor him? No. During the last year that he was bed-ridden, I can count 3 individuals who actually came by to visit him. You see he had outlived his usefulness, because he was not physically capable of selling magazines or making converts. Why waste time with him? Some friends eh?
After he died, they gave him the typical JW infomercial funeral. So when I see the hypocrisy as mentioned in the funeral for the firefighter who was allowed bagpipes and poetry, I get angry.
I may not fully relate to you, but I DO understand.
You do have friends here, even in the darkest moments.

My 2 cents: The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few, or of the one.
What I have read of your posts, you offer a breadth and depth that people like me need to see here. It's folks like you that are helping me get a perspective.
