I had cable until I moved, for $45 a month. Now have DSL (cable's better, but not available here) for about the same. I get it as a package deal with my home phone, and the whole thing comes to something like $80 a month.
Broadband internet what does it cost you?

I switched over to Verizon DSL it was 39.99 for the first 3 months then it went up to 49.99 mthly.
They also offer faster broadband cable connections but they are anywhere from 69.99 to around 100.00 depending on exactly what your needs are.
I'm very happy with my service so far.
I've had compuserve which SUCKS! and only offers dial up
AOL I wasn't happy with
Now Verizon. No problems that haven't been quickly fixed. Good service. AND one bill. It all goes on my phone bill. I like that. The other services wanted an automatic monthly payment from a credit card.

Hmmm
Stinky, is that for cable? If I want 3 megs down, it'll cost me $95/mo through Comcast!

RE: Bigboi what download speeds do you get on average when downloading large files,i get about 60kbsec max also why bother going to cable
Well for the most part it remains at 1.5 mb per second. I have no prob with the the services speed. It's just that lately it seems that the thing's always connecting and reconnecting. I think it's a prob with the wiring the phone company installed. I've heard all the things about cable that hmmm mentioned a few posts down, but I'm really just curious to see how cable works out.

I use my local phone companies DSL and it's great, it's fast and I never have any problems connecting or getting bumped off at all. I've had the service for over a year and it costs me $49.95 a month.

We have AT&T cable modem here in Colorado--for about $55 a month. We haven't had any problems at all. We have a home network (CAT5) and have a router set up as a firewall. All our household computers (five of them!) have 24x7 access. It's incredibly fast and has been very dependable. I work at home 75% of the time and count on having dependable access; I've been very happy with it. We have two phone lines and haven't had to tie any of them up with computers. Thank goodness, because Alan keeps one line occupied with his phone calls most of the time. LOL The kids and I use the other line. :-)
