I thought it would be interesting to list all the papers that carried the New York Times article. Yesterday, I noted the Orange County Register (California), someone else the Santa Barbara News-Press (California) and still another the Denver Post (Colorado). Today I came across it in the Lexington Herald (Kentucky). Interesting title, but same story--"Church's reaction to Kentuckian's complaint illustrate system."

Was it in any other paper? If so, please post link.

The Time's article was in the Sunday issue of Cleveland Plain Dealer on the same page with a story about the catholic scandal..

I could not find the internet link though.

The NY Times article wasn't in any of the Utah papers, we will try and see if it can be covered.

However, Kennison, posted an article that was in the Salt Lake City, Tribune(Aug. 10). The article was about gambling. The SLC elder, who was a spokesman for the JWs, made an interesting comment that there is 'no Bible command against gambling'. Interesting don't you think? Then, why are JWS DFD for gambling? He referred to a publication expaining why JWs shouldn't gamble. Didn't J.R. Brown say that the WTBTS doesn't go beyond what is written?

Go back and read this post by, KENNISON, August 10. It's some good info of interest.

The elder, Richard Wolf, was the same elder who was on my Hubby's JC.

It appeared on page A5 of yesterdays (Aug 11) Cincinnati Enquirer (OHIO), along with two other articles on the Catholic Church. I went back out and purchased extra copies (still trying to find if there is an online link).

I hope it appeared in my home town paper, The Akron Beacon Journal. Lots of family there and in Cleveland!!!

In Tampa, the St. Petersburg Times titled it "Jehovah's Witnesses struggle over charges".

Just as you opened the front page, there it was on page 3 under Church Scandals! You couldn't miss it, along with two other articles on the Catholic Church.

Another discovery. The article appeared at:

    http://worldnetdaily.com/page2.asp

It's entitled "Suffer the children. Jehovah's Witnesses 'covering up sex abuse.' 'They silence them with the threat of disfellowshipping.' "--New York Times

Surprisingly my local paper The Santa Rosa Press Democrat, which is owned by the New York Times, did not publish the article. In fact the Press Democrat hasn't published anything on the JWs lately. However, the paper has given a lot of print to the scandal in the Roman Catholic Church, but again nothing on the JW's dirty laundry.

Then, why are JWS DFD for gambling?

I suspect practicing the questionable 'sin' of gambling is not so much the reason for disfellowshipment, rather a Jehovah's Witness is spending the WT corporations money gambling when the green stuff should be going into the corporate 'contribution' boxes.

Not to mention the effects a brother or sister might have on the congregation if they should happen to joyously declare that they actually come out ahead at the tables during the weekend special in Vegas. Imagine ... the Tuesday night book study being held between shuffles at the Mirage BJ tables.
