It will need to be in a major science publication before I will be able to believe it. As soon as you as have the source for a well-known reputable one such as the Journal of the American Medical Associatione email [email protected] I hope it's true.

What is ironical? I know JAMA but not "Wired." I think that's true of many other readers too. I'm not saying Wired is not reputable but that I don't know it. Surely something as big as what you say will get into a better known journal or the Associated press will pick up on it. Don't make fun of people with a legitimate statement.

Hey, I read in the paper while on holiday that one possible application of stem-cell technology would be to grow new teeth, you just plant a stem cell in the gum and off it grows! Amazing huh? Especially so for us dentally challenged Brits.

this is very interesting......however, please DO NOT neglect your routine eyecare. a bionic eye is by no means a substitute for the real thing. sorry, i'll get off my soap box now.

eyegirl - sweety, don't get off that soapbox! All you're doing is caring about people!

nanceepark - wired is actually an intelligent site. And what is SO bloody hard to believe about this? Look at the amputees who can move their fake fingers with their own muscles? What about opening up the skull of an epilepsy patient while they're awake to find the very source of the seizures? And WHY must it be written up in a medical journal for you to believe it? (how do you know it isn't already?) This is technology and 'wired' is a techy site.

Three cheers for science! Now if we can just clean up the earth..... hmmmmm.... put on the to do list.... oops already there!

The irony, I would think, is in this being an article on a bionic eye.

Your response being, essentially, "I'll believe it when I see it".

    Bionic eye. See it.

    Funny, no?

Posted above your initial post I embedded a page from CNN Health. Seems pretty credible to me.
