    normie,

I know of a few that are in your situation, not an easy place to be in I agree!

You mentioned that you go door to door to help people understand about the Kingdom of God, and that because of the global scale in the preaching work, you believe it has Divine backing.

Do you believe the Trinity Broadcast network with Paul and Jan Crouse also have Divine backing with helping people on a Global scale learn about the Kingdom of God, not to mention all of the so called Divine healing they do in the name of Christ and his Kingdom?

You see normie, they have several Satelites they broadcast from Globally besides travel with missionaries around the world to reach people with their version of the Kingdom of God.

Also the Mormon church preach Globally as well as have Satelites rigged up to just about every Mormon church in the world to help people learn about their version of the Kingdom of God.

I ask you normie, what version is correct? There are different gospels with different doctrines from different religions all around the world reaching out to help people. Which is correct?

And if many of them are wrong in what they teach and believe, are they really helping people with the truth, or are they hurting people with a lie?

I had a few comments about several things here:

The organization doesn't care about leading the lost to Jesus or God. They teach that in order to be in God's good grace, a person needs to work for their salvation, receive a good standing in His presence but in the meantime if you mess up your position in God can be revoked mentality.

Throughout the years during anykind of disaster, I have NEVER seen JWs rise to the occassion and go out and touch those who needed help (be God's extended hand) whether it be food, clothing, money or a shoulder for someone to cry on. I rememeber when I was younger there was a country that suffered a disaster and my mom was going through my clothes to send to only JWs in that country.

Christ said that he didn't come to hang out with the healthy but the sick, the lost and the needy.

The name Jehovah has been around since the beginning of time. He has many other names that describe his attributes:

    Elohim (Creator)
Jehovah (The convenant name of God, our Father)
    El-Shaddai (My Supply, My Nourishment)
    Adonai (Master)
    Jehovah-Jireh (Provider and my Vision)
    Jehovah-Rophe (My Healer)
    Jehovah-Nissi (My Victory)
    Jehovah-Mikkadesh (My Sanctifier)
    Jehovah-Tsidkenou (My Righteousness
    Jehovah-Shalom (My Peace)
    Jehovah-Rohi (My Shepherd)
Jehovah-Shamah (He is there, He is present)

Jesus too has many wonderful names that describe His awesomeness:

    Head of the church
    Rock of salvation
    Lamb of God
    Immanuel
    Image of God
    Judge of all the earth
    King of kings
    Living water
    Lord of the Sabbath
    Morning Star
    Name above all
    Risen Lord

    You know what's sad?

I have a friend that I could show those figures to re: the penecostal church.

He would give that one look, laugh, and say that they "fudged their figures" to make themselves look good. He would then proceed to once again show me scripture that could then be flip-flopped and used against JWs.

It's a real shame to see what this religion does to the intellect.

I'm back.....seems this board is acting strange, no the people on it, but the server seems to be a bit out of whack!!
In retrospect I probably should have started this thread with maybe a different heading. Maybe something like...."The Reasons Its Hard To Give Up The Truth"..maybe that should have explained my situation better. Its hard to believe with Worldwide Unity(some may say Conformity) and Worldwide Christian Brotherhood and a Worldwide Preaching Campaign, that the Org does not have Jehovah and Jesus' backing!!
It just boggles the mind to comprehend a task such as this as just being a Gigantic Magazine and Book Producing Org, that some say are using mere pubs to push their agenda. It just doesn't seem plausible. Most people in the Ministry really strive to reach each and every person, By Whatever Means Necessary!!!
They truly strive to be self sacrificing and giving of their Time, Money and all Resources to accomplish this.
I hope I have been able to describe my feelings in the most understandable fashion.

    hey normie.

I respect your opinion, whole heartedly. Now imagine almost every other person with your same thoughts about the situation. Multiply that and spread it around to all JW congregations, and you will see why so much unity/conformity of thought exists. Now. Remember all of the things that people have said on this forum about hidden agendas and things that you think are silly right now.

Let some time pass, but keep these things in the back of your mind.

When you become an elder, then think about some of the things that are being said to you now, and you will see what many are talking about.

You won't know these things until they literally hit home to you. (i.e. something happens that effects you or your family). You will then understand the delema of people both in and out of the "Truth".

Normie. Good luck to you, and whatever you persue in life. Don't take this personally, but if you are just a rank and file or MS, then you have the answer for why you can't comprehend the motives behind any falsehoods. It's because YOU JUST DON'T SEE THEM YET.

    Here is an example:

I had an in depth discussion with a JW at my job today regarding pedophiles in the catholic church. The JW kept telling a potential convert that pedophilia in the catholic church by the clergy is what's wrong with the religion, and he kept saying that things like that don't happen in JW congregations. He referred to catholic priests who were charged with molestation of church members. His point was that cellobacy (sp?) in the catholic church was causing the problems with the molestation (penned-up sexual tension for the priests). Looks real good for the JWs right?

Well, this poor rank and file JW has NO CLUE that the elders of his congregation have a manual and other letters that give instruction to NOT notify the local cong of any previously-convicted pedophiles. This rank and file doesn't even believe that such manuals or documents even exists. He ridicules any outsider (me) who even mentions it. He also doesn't know that victims of such abuse are encouraged NOT to bring reporoach on Jah's name for the sake of the congregation. How so? By shutting up! By not reporting it to the authorities! By dealing with it oneself, or letting Jah handle it himself in his proper time. In other words: "It NEVER HAPPENED". And we won't even go over the slap on the wrist that the person accused of the crime may or may not get, depending on circumstances, accountibility, and repentance.

So he goes around spouting about how pedophelia is rampent in the catholic church, because you can read about it in the newspapers every now and again, and how these kind of problems are rampent with most religions in general. Not with JWs! That's on a personal level! VERY few stories, if any about pedophelia in the one TRUE religion! Sounds real great right?

    Wrong!

What the guy doesn't realize that he is propogating a FALSEHOOD on two counts.

#1. If JWs were as BIG as the catholic church in numbers, they may end up with just as much of a pedophile problem as the catholics.

#2. Pedophiles cannot be considered practically non-existant in the JW religion. It's at LEAST misleading to even say so, and it's almost an impossibility to predict, as the local rank and file ARE NOT EVEN TOLD that this person may have been a previous offender. If he DID do something in the local cong, and could NOT be convicted, the people have to BE QUIET and not say anything, FOR THE SAKE OF JAH'S NAME AND THE CONGREGATION. ONLY THE ELDERS KNOW THIS INFORMATION. And *if* the perpatrator IS an elder (in good standing, with high clout, as is fitting of this pond-scum) then chances are, nobody is going to say anything for fear of being SUED for slander, or bringing reproach upon the congregation.

(am I rambling? I would say so. Sorry.)

anyway, I figure that he will either find out that I am not a liar about the elder's book once he becomes an elder, or he will put it in the back of his mind and FORGET about it, oh so convieniently, because by that time he might have far more friends/family tied up in his religion than he does even now (he was born into this, raised by his mother), and it will be disadvantageous for him not to PLAY THE GAME.

What's sad is, the game is "FUN" once you are an elder, because you have more of the 'secret knowledge' and a sacred duty to "protect the flock". Even if you DID think something was wrong, you would be AN IDIOT to back out! AND JUST THINK ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITIES OF ADVANCEMENT!!!!

Or, he might realize the errors of his ways, and realize the contradicting nature of his entire existance, step down, and leave the religion. Who knows?

A love of God and convienience of living is what keeps a 'red-neck bible-belt baptist' ignorant and on the 'straight and narrow path', JWs are no different. Fundementalists literally slamb the doors on mellinialists for the SAME reason that mellinialists pshychologically slamb the doors on fundementalists. Nobody wants their world-view shattered. ALL religions love their illusions.

    normie,
If I understand you, there are two or three things that convince you about the JW's: 1)using the name "Jehovah" 2)preaching door-to-door 3)the "global" scope of the Watchtower.
    1) Was the WTBTS jehovah's organization when it started as a small group of bible students? (Not global)
    2) If someone starts a group called "Jehovah's Warriors" and preaches door-to-door will it be Jehovah's Organization?
    3) Doesn't the facts or falsehoods of the material being preached matter?

In my opinion, the WT has grown global because it is very controlling and very hard to leave or even question them. You gave any excellent example when you explained why your posts are so brief.
    Good luck to you,

    Ianao,
Just to back up some of what you say, the JWs do hide the abuse in the org. I was home and a neighbor, (JW) was seriously abusing her child. Foul language, beating, etc., the child was crying "no mommy, no" it tore me up. I called the elders, and told them to get over there now or I would call the police. Their response;"we will call her and distract her." I was determined the next time, I would call the authorities. The rest of the time I lived there, I heard nothing next door.
To this day, I wish I had called the cops first. The child deserved better. Now I carry the guilt. I resent the elders for their lack of serious and proper action.
You are right. The org., does not want the world to know. So it is up to others to let everyone know.
Thanks for making the point you did.

    Thinker
Thanks for responding to this thread!!!
If any group feels like it could take Gods name and start preaching about Jehovah and his Son, more power to them!!! It's just, to me, the only group in this entire world that does a personal door-to-door ministry to try and reach every person is the JWs. I know, because my Mom will stop at nothing to reach somebody at the door!!!She will stop back at differing times and if nobody at home try and contact them via a letter!!(lol lol)You know people like that I'm sure!!! Whether the people are home or not!!!!
Also the Sattelite broadcast are very outreachijng with their message, but I think they lack the personal attention that face to face contact can make. Granterd the TV reaches more people and can be less obtrusive to the viewer!!!
And you mentioned Gods name and how we use it so much. Thats precisely the point God has a name and we use it!!!! Just a quick experience from service(hate to bore you guys I still do it!), I met an older man at ther door a few years ago. He was probably 70s to early 80s, came to door with Bible in hand and wearing reading glasses on. He stated he was doing his daily BR when I knocked. To make a long story short, he wanted to swap literature(He was a Christian Scientist). I declined, as we are supposed to!! But I left him with this thought. I asked him how long had he read the Bible. He mentioned over 60 yrs!! I asked him if he knew God had a name. He looked perplexed, here I was a 20 something young man askin an old sage the question. He replied No! I took his Bible and opened to Ps 83:18 and (thank goodnes it was there)I read the scripture to him from his own Bible. Honestly in the 20+ yrs in the public ministry I never saw a look of surprise in my life!!! I showed a man in his 70s Gods name, I will never forget the expression on his face. It was like a huge Light went on his head!!!!!!(By the way still call on him occaisonally!!)
So thats why I hate when people post that we overuse his name and everybody knows his name!!! Think about it when was the first time you heard God's Personal Name??????????

Think about it when was the first time you heard God's Personal Name??????????

Not that the question was posed to me, but the first time I heard the name was in my 'full-gospel church'.

Incidentally, the name of the church was: Agape Faith Church.
